Mk2 Bay Harness, Engine Side

Featured Replies

Me again,

Got a mk2 bay loom to plug into my mk3 fuse box for the AEE on carbs, all I need is:

Coolant temp

Oil pressure (x2)

Reverse switch on gbox

Crank/alternator wire

I'd imagine the power to starter/alt, crank wire & alternator light wire & reverse switch are on the other loom?

Firstly, will it work? And secondly, which plug is what on this, so I can cut it up :)

Main plug into fuse box (mk2/3 the same yes?)

Relay holder (what relay is this for, inlet manifold heater?)

Washer motor plug?

Single male connector, two wires in: ???

Oil pressure high + low connections

Black plug, coolant temp sensor?

Red plug???

Red wire: ?

Blue wire: ?

Don't know this?

White multiplug: wipers?

Red with eyelet: power to whatever relay it is?

Two pin plug: brake level warning?

Single plug (red wire): whatever the relays for maybe?

Any ideas aha? :)

Guessing some maybe for the autochoke?

Not sure about a mk3 but the plugs that look the same on a mk3 are....:

last one is wiper motor (White plug)

long white one above is heater

red with 1 wire is battery live

brown in rubber cover is brake fluid

single white maybe brake pressure sensor? Not sure on that one i dont have that one...

first pic one in plastic boot it fuse box, red wires into black box is relays, engine management and fuel pump.

Not just easier getting a mk3 loom?

BTW, your dogs bowl has a penis on it.

Stop repeatedly editing lol!

No because the mk3 loom has loads of shit I don't need

Shup, google it. Edited again to mek muwer skensssse.

Nobody really explains the clocks situation with the two senders either lol.

Does this work via ecu or what?

Was hoping oil pressure is wired to clocks, they do the whole 2000rpm thing and sort the warning lights.

Coolant for gauge should be direct to clocks?

I need pinouts for a mk2 and 3, elsawin lacks and so does autodata :s

This is gay. hopefully someone can help without just saying ''its easy'' or ''mk2 and mk3 are pretty similar''

need to know will the mk2 loom plug into the mk3 fuse box, and are the pinouts the same..meaning my coolant temp gauge and oil pressure switches will work?

I'm stuck on wiring alos Yarris. Its one thing i can never get my head around.

Do you know which is high and which is low oil pressure? I'm only running low as i cba to get a Y piece... Just dunno which is which

Nothing in the conversion thread really about putting it into a MK3. As theres loads of loom you need to get rid of as its not needed.

My oil pressure wires are on the ECU part of the loom, and go to a like 10/15 way connector. All i want is one wire, not everything else lol.

Need to know which is which 1st tho.

Me too mate.

The oil pressure switches show wired directly to clocks in Haynes, but they go through the engine loom.

Coolant temp shows one side to gauge, the other to brake and handbrake switch :s lol!

Confusion!

I don't want a massive loom with loads of spare plugs

I'm gunna unrwrap my ecu loom and see whats what.

I think the coolant one is on a separate part of the loom on a MK3. Black one is anyways, don't need blue.

When running a MK2 coil, is the power to it coming from the original cars loom? So id need to cut the plug off it and use spades?

As the MK2 ignition loom only has an earth to the battery?

Also, i dont get how to wire the rev counter in.

Need Jake, he loves looms

You'll have an ignition feed to the coil yeah, dunno where it comes from though.

Mk2 loom is easy, just a feed to coil and stick the ground anywhere.

Rev counter I use the centre wire from hall sender direct to pin on clocks.

According to Haynes it's red/black

Fuel pump relays are on the ecu loom too.

I need them as I'm running my pump using the original wiring down by the tank.

But does this use the ECU

I might just fucking leave the ecu and everything in and just try to hide it LOL

I'm currently belling out the wiring on a mk3 compared to the mk2 loom.

Looking promising, what are the TWO relays in the engine bay on a mk3? (next to ECU) and the single one on the mk2 loom?

Oooo, inlet manifold heater + fuel pump, & just inlet heater on mk2 loom?

  • Author

All worked out apart from:

33767122.jpg

Red plug goes to the inlet heater relay as a control wire, black goes to the other plug in the pic, what is it for?

Other plug has a black lead from the red plug, black/brown that goes to fuse box, what is this and what does it connect to?

And secondly:

ba551aa9.jpg

This comes from relay, I assume is power feed to the inlet heater?

This is a mk2 question now, I have no experience of them so not sure??

If so, I will chop out the relay wiring and the plugs pictured as I don't need them

Also, while I'm at it.

The brown 2 pin plug on a mk3, by coil, which people always get wrong an car don't start....WHAT THE FUCK IS IT FOR?!

God knows, i only have the male side of it now, dunno where the other connector has gone

  • Author

Need to know lol.

I can't just get bored and leave my car in the garage for a year like lots on here

whatcha sayin? biatch

That brown fucker,

Black wire is the same ignition feed as coil and fuel pump

Red/black wire went to the ecu...

I get the feeling its the main feed actually coming off the igntion, and it then branches off from that further up in the loom.

As now I've stripped the loom, that ignition feed goes to coil/fuel pump/ecu. Which would make sense if people dont plug it in nothing works...

And you know i said there were 2 other wires in that plug that the fuel pump goes through and the oil ones... Yellow and yellow/white, They are for the diagnostics port in the footwell ;) So have now binned them!

What's the other pin? Why is it in headlight loom lol

you guys have made this all really hard for yourselves.

Oil senders are separate and go to the clocks

Temp Gauge goes to the clock.

Rev Counter, goes to the clocks, via the ECU, just cut the red/black wire that heads towards the clocks from the ecu, then lengthen this to plug it into the neg side of the coil

get a pair of wire cutters and remove all the other wiring no longer connected to the engine. You should be able to just pull the ECU plug and everything else follows

I had a box load of wiring after doing mine.

Iv worked it out, I just want to know the brown plug by the coil! As long as when I fuck the ECU loom off so that plug is left empty in the headlight loom, the lights/fan and such all work it's fine.

I've got rid of the ecu stuff now.

However, this red and black you talk of for the rev counter is nowhere to be seen

What plug is this in? I have no red/black for the coil.

Its not helping me having the loom out of the car

The engine loom being from an spi

The headlight loom being from a GT (That had a hidden loom and relocated coil etc) So nothing is where it should be.

Its alright if you have a basic understanding of these things, but i have no idea.

Well, now i have some sort of understanding of a MK3 loom.

look at the big plug to ECU, red/black one and chase it back
