As per the title, I'm looking for a speaker upgrade guide for my polo, I've seen a few links on here but some of them are broken/aren't for my car. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

What d'you wanna run? If you like it a bit louder, you're gonna want to run a sub.

The fronts are 17cm (6.5"). Components are where you have a speaker and a tweeter. You'll see the tweeter on the 6n2 in the little white bit at the top of the door.

Co-axials are combined, but IMO, not as good.

Spend as much money as you see fit for audio. It's one thing where you spend how much you want to hear. Lots of money gets you serious quality.

Rainbow, Focal, Diamond are all good brands.

Thanks for the info, but i'm looking for an actual guide on how to fit speakers to my car. I just want to run some uprated components (6.5") with my standard head unit as my stock speakers have ripped.

Aw. haha! I thought you wanted advice on speakers too.

If you've got the door card off, just take out the old speakers and put the new ones in? You've done the hard work taking off the card.

Yeah man, once you've got the door card off, the speaker just unscrews.

It'll lift off and you'll see it's attached with a little plastic connector, these will unclip - just lever the little clip at the top and pull at the same time.

You'll find the speakers might not come with spades (the connections to join the wires onto). You can get these at Maplins, or RS or the likes. Like a pound for 10 or something.

Just cut the connector off - seeing as it won't fit your new speakers. Cut some sheath off so you see about 10mm of copper, twist it so it's lovely and neat, fold in half if you like, and pop it into the spade fitting and crimp with pliers.

I think? that brown is the ground - so that'll go to the -ve speaker terminal (they'll be marked).

Other one goes to positive.

New speaker gets attached and screwed on. You might have to put new holes though. Although some speakers have holes in common places, you might get lucky.

If i remember though, the 6n2 ones have a little nipple that'll stop the speaker from sitting flat - just cut this off with a sharp blade.

Honestly, takes 20 mins both sides, if that.

For a cleaner install you an get wiring adaptors on eBay for around £2-3 and these plug straight into the connector on the door wiring loom and has the correct sized terminals for te speakers fitted.

Also if you are getting component speakers then you can cut off the terminals from this adaptor lead and wire them to the input side of the crossover then connect the woofer output to the woofer then fit the speaker into the door. Then for the tweeter you can cut the adhesive off that is holding the tweeter in place and then simply glue the new one back on, then wire it to the crossover, then depending on the size you could either screw or glue the crossover to the door metal so it doesn't rattle around.

OR you could just replace the woofers with vw ones. I know it sounds a bit crap, but I did this today as my jbl components had a hole in one of the woofers so I fitted some woofers from a golf and it sounds awesome, way better then the jbl's IMO.
