I have a '53 polo but when i bought it it came with the private plate of:

CH51 BUN as the girl i bought it from was named Chelsea and her dad used to call her Chelsea bun.

Does anybody know what this number plate would be worth just to sell as it makes no difference to me having a private plate, or if not where i could get an accurate online valuation without filling in 10 pages of pointless crap.

Exactly £0, probably. It likely means nothing to anyone other than to the previous owner.

Unless your surname is Bunn like a few of my friends ...

gointo dvla private registrations type in the reg and it will give you all reg ending bun or beginning ch51 and something similar take a look at what they are selling for when you sell it you will still have to fill in all the forms etc to sell it tho you will find the plate is worth 250 quid as well

Doubt you'll see anything for it, but you won't lose anything by asking a couple of brokers for a valuation. I normally use regtransfers and newreg.

the car would have been registered first then a private plate added, so maybe they revert to the original? my mk2 had the plate DB3000 for 10 years then went to E633HCD when an owner sold the plate.

Q plates are usually placed onto radically altered vehicles. Like Leon my MK2 also had a private plate for some time, TSD 996, I have even scans of the documents from the transfers.

I imagine that it would just be assigned another registration number but I'm not sure, you'll be better off asking the DVLA.

You get an equivalent plate of the year, CWA.

My original plate for this shell was C526 PNP. I didn't like it, so with money burning my pockets i decided i could either leave it in the hands of RBS or Northern Rock, or put it somewhere safe instead - i chose the latter. So i set about finding a plate that'd replace PNP and still be worth as much (if not more) at any later date of my choice. Only thing is,i like this plate and have no intention of cashing it in!

But if i did, the DVLA would give me an equivalent C-reg plate. Possibly even six digits! But not five, and likely seven. It wouldn't be C526 PNP though, as that plate has been sent off to that place where software goes when you delete it - the great pixel scrapyard in the sky.

No, it'd be something completely random, like C482 FPE or something. But it'd be a normal '85/86 C-reg.

Which is what's called a buyers' market. There's loads of them priced cheap so chances are no one wants one and a sale's unlikely.

In going through a broker, you work on the hope that someone wants it who's not bright enough to look on DVLA SOM.

All you do to sell it is fill in an application to transfer a registration form, available off DVLA website. Then you send it in along with the fee and whatever else they ask for. They send you a new logbook and tax disc, you get some new plates made and send your old logbook and tax back.

You'll get assigned a new registration based on the age of the vehicle, in the day of old-style reg's you normally ended up with a high number (I normally ened up with 990-odd), these days you tend to end up with a load of X's and Y's in the suffix letter block.

You plate you get assigned can't normally be transferred off the vehicle.

^^ They can get it wrong though, and simply miss out.

B1 UVA was twice the price, and B2 UVA was the same price as every other single numeral (B3 UVA, B7 UVA etc). They didn't single out B2 UVA as being anything other than an uncommon UVA initials plate. So i got it cheap for what it was, and swiftly got a valuation for three times the price i paid - i've since had talk of several times over!

It took me half hour to think of it, i wrote down a load of words i liked and considered how to construct them. I wouldn't have thought of getting one until my brother Nessan did, though he loses financially because it's an uncommon name and it can only be put on a car registered after 1/9/2005 (mine is for any car registered after 1/8/1985, so covers many more vehicles).

Appreciate that! You've seen it in the flesh and it's kinda like that with plates, the car it's on can play with the view of it a little.

It's generally well recieved, makes it particularly special that i found it hidden in a list of millions almost the same, and it had never been used before afaik.
