Another 'help Me Choose' Thread

Featured Replies

Hello there,

My door cards and speakers are currently all out of the car (boring without music!) I need some replacement bass speakers that go in the door (17cm/6.5"). I do not need them with tweeters as I will use the factory ones. My budget is around £50, can anyone point me in the right direction? Max mounting depth needs to be around 60mm.

Cheers

Have your originals broke? Or are you looking for updated woofers?

If they have broke (ie split or overheated) and you are planing on running them off of the headunit then I would recommend getting some use working vw woofers as in my experience these work better with the standard tweeters.

Or you can get some midrange speakers from Maplins (~£10 each) or eBay etc, these work well also. But if you are going for something you would find in halfords etc then they would only really do coaxial speakers, which are good but won't work well with the tweeters.

I can get the Maplins catalogue numbers up if you'd like. Also well worth checking on eBay for "car speakers" 6.5 speakers" and "component speakers" as you will more then likely find what Ou need at a good price. I got my vw speakers (woofers and tweeters) off eBay for £3 posted :) so you never know.

Cheers for the advice, I've found these, a bit over my price range but apparently they come with adaptors for my car, and thoughts? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pioneer-TS-170Ci...#ht_2715wt_1271

They will do it, but they do not require any special adaptors as the woofers just screw into the existing bracket an the tweeters would just need gluing into position, so of they are cheaper without the adaptors then I would go for them.

also these would better suit an amplified input as the power handling is a little higher then most head unit put Out.
