Hello guys!

This '79 Classic Mini is my pride & joy.. I've been fully nut & bolt restoring her over the past few years but as I've now finished University and I'm into the real world I needed something that actually works to get me to my placements and such..

I'm first time VW owner, although I learnt to drive in the 1Ltr Lupo that you'll spot in the background, that belongs to my Sister now.

I really enjoyed driving that and we as a family have always had VWs / Audis, so it made sense for me to follow in suit.

So I bought this..

First little task was to fix the faulty rear windscreen washer as it was dumping into the engine bay, I read somewhere that you had to take the arch liner off and just reconnect the pipes, but it turns out I didn't at all as it was in the engine bay.. so after charging at full steam into the job and not taking my time to work out where the leak was I jacked it up, took the wheel & arch liner off.. haha.. anyway.. that's now fixed and my rear windscreen washer works.

Then I set about giving it a proper much needed wash and removing all the green mould that had built up around the edges of the seals, it hadn't been properly cleaned for a long while by the looks of things.

Wash, wax, windows cleaned & some tire shine later and it's looking lovely.

I don't know what I'll do in terms of modifications as I've already got my hands full with the '79, so I think for now it'll be a fairly boring (for you) case of tarting things up. I've got a new set of plates on the way & a original radio unit as I'm not a fan of the headunit as I don't use CDs! It's no use to me.

Haven't done anything major apart from maintenance.. refilled the A/C, new rear wiper blade etc..

Put a new set of plates on tonight as the old ones were battered about, makes no end of difference, looks so much tidier.

I've also got a leak.. which I thought was the rear wiper pipe leaking into the rear seat & boot or the rain.. it's definitely the rain.. so I need to track down where that is coming from.

Sorry this is all so boring

Nice little polo you have there :) - Any details on how you fixed your rear wiper jet as mine is exactly the same and seams to look like a nightmare.

Keep up the good work!!

Hiya, this could eb a bit late to suggest now but I've had the same sort of leak into my boot and found it was coming through the seal on one of the taillights so peel back the lining in the boot and feel the wiring loom. If its soggy you canb be pretty sure thats what is leaking

Nice mini man!

I had a set of lights with some broken clips and it was causing it to leak but brought some new 1's and sprayed the old 1's all red for the summer :D

I was on about the washer fluid in the engine bay? Any chance on advice because mine does it.

thanks

Dont know if youre asking me or not but fuck it. I might be stating the obvious but have you checked the pipes that feed the jets? they could be split somewhere? thats all i can think of?
