Late night drives?

Featured Replies

Does anyone else occasionally go on random late night drives? I sometime find it hard to sleep and end up going out for a drive at about 2am, literally nothing on the road, find it pretty relaxing.

This may just be me and my weird way of trying to cure insomnia but does anyone else do this? If so how late & how far do you go?

i used to do it all the time but with fuel prices the way they are these days its not so practical (a tank of fuel used to cost £20 back then!). think the furthest i drove was 120miles in total. definately relaxing and theres something good about being the only one in the road. just easy fodder for random cops thi!

Use to do it as a student when I couldn't sleep. 11 at night was the favourite time. My parents didn't approve

I tend to do it quite often, quiet drive, no cars, relaxing cigarette.......oh yes 8-) .

Cant beat it .. just a mission on your own around a route you've never done..

Sunday's when its sunny. Having a blast down b-roads is always good after cleaning the car :)

Used to, sometimes pretty much all night. Fuel prices are one issue but the main one is marriage..

Yeah, dont do it at my misses house . Most prob think I'm off with another women or something lmao .. Womens mindset rarley make sence lol :/

My friend did once and was fou d the next morning upsidedown unconscious off the side of the road :(

Ever since settling down its some thing I've cut down on, plus I've not got the car for it and we haven't really the weather for it. Nice warm summer night sun roof open, revvy petrol engine note cutting through the warm summer air, can't beat it 8-)

Maybe next year when the polo's on the road I will have more of an incentive to do it

i only live 5 mins from snake pass and woodhead so late night drives are a must here

i do it all the time, just go for a drive down the bendy country roads, 10 minute and I'm in the peak district looking out over some pretty chilling views :)

me and 3 friends went out one night when i had bought a new car and ended up driving down to truro cornwall lol, ended up stoping 2 nights in a cheap tent we bought from asda lol, oh to be 19 again!

m4ttyf - i dont blame you. i use the A606 (iirc) going upto manchester and i bet theres some awesome roads round there. found a good photo opp.....just need some bolt croppers to break into woodhead tunnel

best place i found is devon although getting lost is way too easy!

Not so great when it has been raining though

I live quite close to an observatory so get some lovely views up on there, great picture spot, just need to finish the damn car off :-( .

I do it every night at 3am in the morning driving 50 miles...going home from work lol

I think the point of this thread is for pleasure/choice, not work.

I do 200 miles from london to devon or the other round mostly at night. The A303 is amazing fun! and most of it has no street lights.

But 60 quid a tank could be spent much better, like drugs, alcohol, prostitutes... whatever young people are into these days

It just says late night drives not pleasure or choice, I drive late night that's why I put it, if there's a problem I'll delete my comment?

I have seen some odd shit driving at night when i did night truck driving. Most of the time at night its all lorries so when your bored you see cars and think "What are they up to?".
