i am looking for some help on fitting a new horn button, i bought a mk2f polo that came with a momo wheel . however the horn push does not work and i am going to fit a horn button either on dash or somewhere else. if i just buy a horn mechanism will it wire straight up to the old cables? also can these be used? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sparco-Single-St...8#ht_600wt_1063

I have no idea about the Sparco unit.

Have you checked that the actual horn and the wiring are in good order? Remember that the feed is from the fuse to the horn and that the horn push is on the earth side.

If you fit a new horn, it may pay to give some consideration to fitting a horn relay, this would reduce the current across the horn push contacts and probably make the horn more effective.

Yeah mate I tested horn checked wiring etc that's all fine , I'm just missing the spring mechanism on the horn therefore it doesn't work, I'm gonna look into a relay probably fit one . A button is a button, for the horn, it just creates a short to earth and the horn works.

But why don't you just fix the actual horn button?

i have an omp wheel on my mk2, the horn button on mine dont work either. didnt work on my old mk2 aswell

As said, any push button will work, BUT (1) (why is there always a 'but'?) it is normal to have a a largish one so that you don't have to fumble to find it, remember that the horn is a warning device, with a small button, whoever or whatever you are trying to warn, could be dead by the time you have found a small horn button. (2) Small button probably means small contacts, making a relay essential if you don't want the contacts' to weld together or burn away prematurely.
