Hey people I've searched up on this and have found alot of mixed answers.

I have a 4 branch on my 1.3, will it fit straight onto an AEE? the ports are the same but some people have mentioned it not clearning the mk4 sump while others say it does?

Help!

Also where on an AEE is the engine code? Isit by the gearbox?

I'd be surprised if it does eric, i've got the 6N 4-branch on the breadie and its miles too big (depth wise), so fitting the smaller 1.3 item to a taller blocked engine like the AEE will give the opposite problem.

Is yours stainless? Could maybe do a swap if you want?

If your fitting a mk3 sum the issue could be resolved? I'm not sure if the issues is sump depth or actual block depth.

I'm sure nick could help with pics of a mk4 exhaust on a mk4 engine with mk3 sump anyway, measure the depth of your exhaust and one of a mk4 exhaust and get nick/someone to measure the space between a mk4 downpipe and mk3 sump when used on a mk4 :-) Shoudl help.

Mr big burt said hes got a standard 1.3 zorst on a aee so hopefully the 4 branch will go straight on

it is tight though , i had to refit the original cat which seems to be a bit tighter than i remembered , but it just goes . I couldnt really get any clear pictures ill try to do some more when i get me ramps back.

6n 4-2-1 with a mk3 sump.

So from block to the lower bit of the mk3 sump, which I dunno if your current 4-2-1 runs under or not is about 2"

Compared to a 6n sump...

Like 6.5", so like 2.5" lower to floor also.

Probably struggle with manifold. AEE block being taller doesn't help. And your lower than me also!

Heres the clearance from my 4 branch to sump.

The exhaust runs under the shallow part.

Good bit of space there so I'm hopeful!

The thing is, all the different manufactures make them to slightly different dimensions, so just because marks fit, doesn't mean yours will

Your just gonna have to wait and see, or pick one up cheap if your in doubt, sell it if you need to after.

I know that, but theres mine above, theres a bit of room in between, hopefully itl just be enough!

Issit? Hmm. How much taller actually is the 1.6 block dude? As the difference between sumps is like an inch, i reckon i have over an inch clearance, maybe 1.5-2.

Flattening the exhaust wouldnt cause problems would it? Like letterbox sorta shape

You know your mk3 sump has like the bit nearest block. Then a step doesn't it which is about 1/2-1" closer to exhaust?

Mines got about 1/2" gap there.

& flattening should keep the same volume just may disrupt flow a bit. But in reality I wouldn't lose sleep over it
