Removing the lower grilles on a 9N3

Featured Replies

I'm looking to replace the 3 standard lower grilles with the honeycombe versions.

Could anyone give me a hand and tell me how to get them off? Will I need to take my bumper off? And also since my car isn't a GTi and didn't come with foglights. Can I out foglights in myself without much hassle? Or will I just have to holes on either side of the car?

Any help appreciated.

They just pull out, grab hol of them and just pull. They will seem like there gonna break but will come off.

Retro-fitting foglight shouldn't be hard.

The fog grilles have a small torx head screw holding them on, make sure you put this back on it you WILL lose the grilles. The centre one may have two screws in the upper part but I think it is just clipped on. Have a look at the new grille to see where the clips are, you may have to use your finger through the slats and pull the clip downwards.

As for the fog lights the SGOULD be plug an play, so when the grilles are off have a look/feel around for a wiring loom blanked off and attached to the body, these connect to the dogs. You will need another headlight switch with the fog light position, again this is plug an play.

HTH

the middle one has no screws to worrk about, just yank it, it takes a good bit of force but dont worry, it will come out with enough force.

and the fogs are the same story but with a torx screw that needs removed first.

i did my grilles in honeycombe, aswel as the top grille honeycombe/debadged and it looks ace mate!
