Hi all just started on the polo scene, I got myself I late mk3 1ltr as a base to build up, got it around mid July

Here is how I brought her

Interior is stripped out now, engine come out Saturday

Whilst out, completely cleaned out the bay of all spills etc,

Sunday engine in,

1.6 on bike carbs, got a little more in the bay to do before getting her running

More to come, wheels, sus etc

:-D she's getting there bit of a smaller engine than originally planed but it's just get me started and into the first year,

Replaced the grill for a proper de badged one, new steering wheel and boss, all interior stripped out,

Did u do the stereo wiring or was it like that when u got it?

Wheels are now fresh out of the oven with their new colour

Good base mate. 1.6 goes quite well in a mk3, subtle wheel colour

Cheers mate, she bolted straight into the mk3 bay, but it was already prepped ready for a mk3 when I got it so not sure what was done if anything to get it in, the set up was done but had never been driven so we are still unsure what's shes going to run like yet lol but that's hopefully the Jon for this weekend, once the lines and tank are with me :-)

Yeah jamesy is helping out he had the engine in his got it to the point of running, never drove it then decided to change his mind about his again lol

Managed to get a few hours in on the car this weekend

Done the heat wrap on the manifold I'm now itching like crazy, found out you are ment to get the wrap wet before putting it on lol, apparently keeps the fibers of the wrap together so they don't break away and dig into it skin lol,

Also coloured the boot badges not quite a 100% match to the wheels but will still work on that

Been doing odd bits just not had a chance to update, managed to match the wheel colour so did the boot lid badges lol

Done the front disc conversion

Took the rear axel off waiting for my sus set up, cleaned up and painted, fitted new rear bushes

Also doing rear disc conversion

While axels off took advantage of the clear space grinder back the crap and paint re painted with stone chip

Staging brake ready to be fitted

Bonrath adjustable top mounts ready to go on when new sus set up arrives

where are you planning on mounting the handbrake lever? I'm looking at fitting mine alongside the gear shifter but i dont think i have the room so may have to rethink the plan.

not keen on the orange if I'm totally honest but its all looking good so far.

i hope the heatwrap stays that colour. I've used both black and red wrap and theyve both faded to white :(

I'm planning on putting it on the tunnel, at a slight angle to pull towards you in the seated position, I'm not having the standard hand brake or passenger seat so will have more room,

As for the heat wrap yeah I'm not sure if it'll keep it's colour but as long as it keeps doin what it's ment to do I could prob live with the colour fade

just wondering as you say your removing the standard handbrake if you are how will you be modifying your hydro handbrake to also do the mechanical side of the handbrake too as i looked into this and still want to do it but not got around to working anything out yet

It will be staying road legal there is a cable kit that fits onto the hydro brake

Demon tweaks do it but sure there are companies out there that do it cheaper

I'll only be putting it on mine for test as at the front of my brake lever has a in that drops down and ratchets up on the grid to hold brakes on

thats a nice idea! i think I'm going to have a look at making something like that so i can have it in the standard place and stay road legal:-)

My tester said I might not need that kit as the brake leaver mechanically locks with that drop pin, but there are differences in opinion from tester to tester,
