Elephant and Admiral for me usually but there are far too many variables to give a definitive answer.

'the insurance factory' for me being 17 on a 1.2 9n :) and put a girl that's learning to drive on your insurance! It will bring it down by like £400 for some stupid reason!

Mine was LVE £860 a year on a 1.0 6n, but that's including 2 years motorcycle no claims which they were nice enough to discount me for :-D

In all honesty there is no specific company that is cheap for everyone, especially as a young driver, because insurance is based on the risk perceived by the individual companies.

You have to spend the time getting different quotes and trying different things.

1. Try adding parents/other older people, who don't have accidents, claims or losses/convictions and have held a license for over 10 years.

2.Ask the company is they do anything specific for young drivers, eg 9 month policies/gps box technology, however make it clear and the outset what the benefits are. (some companies do 9 month policies, the discount will be equivalent to 1 years ncd but will only apply with them. You still have to wait 1 year, for the actually ncd)

3. Go to brokers directly and companies that are not on price comparison websites.

4.Quote online (many companies give additional discount for quoting online)

5. Other policies (ask family members who they are with and call those companies)

Use this a bargaining point,to obtain an additional discount.

6. Be nice, insurance advisory are human, the nicer you are to them; the nicer they will be to you.

7.Multi-car. See if you can incorporate your insurance with a family members. (If your vehicle will run for less than 12 months, make sure that you will be entitled to a year ncd, and that its not company specific)

This can be a benefit, if you can get a years ncd quicker.

8. Named driver discount. If you have been named on a policy, eg parents. See if you can get an introductory discount.

Please remember, don't front or ghost a policy, as it renders the policy absolutely useless in the event of a claim.

Its also not all about the cheapest price, but the best value. Some companies out will cause you a whole load of shit, if you have any problems/accidents

Make sure you are covered for legal services, protection against uninsured drivers, and accident recovery (breakdown companies don't normally provide this)

Good luck!

I-kube.
