My cars in for an MOT tomorrow, and the shocks are pretty bouncy, need doing, but I don't have time atm. Can't think of anything else it would fail on, I'm just worried as last year they were tested but I'm sure they don't usually??

Yep they're a check point. More than 1 and a half bounces i believe is a fail?

They also check for oil leaks, damage etc

If they're fucked, they generally will be (or have) leak oil, which depending on how severe will be a fail or at least an advisory.

A light 'misting' of oil is an advisory but signs of actual oil would be a fail. Down to the testers discretion i suppose.

One of my mates got around this by pressure washing his shocks the morning before the MOT haha it passed to!

But he still had a fucked shock lol ...

iv been working at a garage 2 days a week over the last few months and while i had my polo on the ramp to do the tracking, one of the lads noticed my shock was leaking and said it would be a failiure

A leaking shock is a failure, but the condition of them being bouncy is no problem because MOT testers don't road test cars, Crawl underneath and spray some degreaser and get a rag, make them look brand new the worst you'll get is a advisory for spray.
