2001 polo match, central locking

Featured Replies

Hi, it's my first post, I have searched the forum for this problem, but never found one with the same condition.

When you use the key in the door it will only unlock/lock the drivers door, also when you press the lock button on the drivers armrest it does nothing, I have checked all the fuses, that's my technical knowledge used up, anymore suggestions please, thanks, Simon.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

I'm no expert, but this does sound like the central locking pump to me. They are prone to getting wet and once they're wet, they're goosed. Once it's been replaced (if others confirm this is indeed the issue) then you can put the pump in a bag so that it doesn't get wet again.

Hope this helps.

the wiring in the door is a common thing to break, pull the gaiter in the door jam and have a gander for broken wires.

happened to my 6n2, 90% going to be the pump, open the boot and its behind the right hand rear light, there is a little compartment you put back, when you replace it wrap it in a bag to stop it getting damp

Sounds like the pump

Does the pump make a noise when you lock/unlock? It could be just unlocking the drivers door as it is mechanically linked to the lock barrel. If there is no noise then it is most probably a dead pump. I have one laying around somewhere if your interested.
