Alright guys,

I've got a problem, my rubber seals on my 6N that run on the bottom of my windows have given up, meaning when I was my car/it rains, it lets all the water into my door... Where can I source some new ones? Are they a bugger to fit?

Any light shed on this will be amazing!

Easy to sort and no need for garage. Unusual for seal to be completely gone - but I guess 6ns are getting old.

Open door.

Start on outside, remove lower outer seal by prising upwards - it's only clipped in! Take care not to damage paint. Just use fingers.

New one - look on ebay or VW. Expensive. ?Refurb the old one. Suggest taking doorcard off and checking membrane on door and the drainage holes at the bottom which I would suggest are clogged.

If you need to replace the rest...

Remove doorcard.

Remove rubber guide (with felt) by peeling away from doorframe. Take care not to damage paint.

Refit by pushing on new one. A little spray with WD40/washing up liquid helps.

Pull inner seal up and replace with new one.

Refit new outer seal.

That's it!

Remove and reseat. If completely distorted, replace. Look carefully at inner seal too. Take door card off to do this.

Why don't you state your car type, numbers of doors etc. there are lots of people here who may have the required part lying around. A little politeness & gratitude may serve you well.

hey folks i have a slight problem with my rubber seals aswell. its like there rotting away, when it rains or i wash it, around the window its covered in black stuff obviously coming off the seals. i was thinking off re-sealing it on a dry day with clear silicone :-D do you think thats a bit daft? be better just to get new seals? c

Depends on your budget. The real answer to the problem is to replace.
