I think it should. I've heard of people using it (the clear version) to seal light lenses back on.

Better to think outside the box, and over engineer it. So you're not mounting a plate, you're mounting a kerb stone. Therefore what you wanna use is a generously-spread smear of no more nails. That'll hold it.

No more nails do a double sided foam tape, I use it at work for all manner of bodgery and it's damn strong.

Makes a little gap between the plate and the lid too, so you don't rub your paint through with it rattling.

I used to work for 3M and had loads of double sided automotive tape - the stuff that holds body kits on or anything else it seems.

Came to changing my plates and damn near pulled the paint off and snapped the plate - maybe six strips the width of the plate was overkill.

Na I'm messing, 3M stuff is brill, My plates are stuck on with it now and they ent coming off XD

My front plate stayed on for nine years with those sticky pads you can buy at Halfords, and was still held on firmly when I pulled it off a few months ago for the pre-2001 plates.

That said, my rear plate dropped off on my drive, then again and I lost it, after I had the car resprayed. The pads stick to the vinyl on the number plate tub, but have stopped sticking to the plate. They stayed on for eight years with no problems before it went into the bodyshop, I hope Halfords hasn't dropped the quality of the glue they use... :(

Technically it's all about the prep though - clean the surface properly, and you should be fine.

^^^Agreed. Those number plate sticky pads are fine as long as you degrease the bumper recess and rear of the plate.

Failing that I've used silicone before as it can be peeled off when removed from a smooth surface, encase you ever wanted to remove them.

3M is a bit of an exception - all there stuff is known for being shit-hot quality.

They ain't all such a high standard, i've had plates hanging off in just a few months from some and even then when applied warm.

bought some from sticky pads from halfords and you could pull the plate off but it never budged in normal use.

Received my plates and plate holder, backing, what ever you call them.

Notice as previously stated they clip into these so i dont have to drill them, how far do they bend till they snap?

I'm having abit of trouble getting them in, dont want to bend something I've just got and snap it. would be pretty pissed!

Edit: Google'd it, used a pair of scissors as the 'Key'. Now I've noticed that these are pretty Cool!
