Featured Replies

Hi all, new to this forum but thought i'd share my 6n build...

so i bought a 6n polo a couple of weeks ago,

one previous owner from new (an old man) full service history, kept in garage, no dents or scratches, no rust (apart from the steelies) and only 46k on the clock!!!... £300 quid with full tank of petrol! bargain!!!!!

had it sat in my drive an hour after finding out that it was for sale!!

photo of the front bumper i bought today, it had a small crack at the bottom in the middle - filled that and some other small stone chips, primed it and put on the first layer of 'flash red' paint, will finish it off tomorrow. Need to find some grill's for it - anyone know where i could get them from? i think eBay might be my best option... also needs a splitter fitting

Nice effort to start with buddy. Do you know that the bumper you bought won't fit? What's your list for the dash, i have some spare bits that might help. :)

your joking me? i thought they fit! ahhh can tell I'm new the polo modding world cant you lol ah well might have to put it up for sale once I've sprayed it up....

as for the dash, i need instruments, centre console plus switches (unless my old switches can be re-used?) and the driver heater vent... oh and a 6n2 wiring loom

Good base car matey, love a nice red 6n!

As for the 6n2 bumper, it can be done i have seen one or two that have managed to do it, but it requires a lot of messing around to get them to fit and even then they don't look anywhere near as good or flush as the 16V 6n bumpers.

My advice is sand it back down and prime it and sell it like that, will get a lot more interest as its less work for the buyer and usually more money for it ;)

Yeah I was thinking about getting a 16v bumper instead, as this is going to be too much hassle.

looking good mate, nice cheap and cheerful motor :)

Yeah, trying to make a nice car on a small budget

Welcome along

To fit the 6n2 bumper you will need 6n2 wings, bonnet, slam panels etc etc

a few quick questions guys....

I'm new to the world of polo modding (well modding in general) can someone tell me if these are any good? ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FK-AK-COILOVER-A...0#ht_1989wt_989

they seem to be the chestest on ebay, but does that mean they are going to be shit?

I'm just trying to do this on a low budget so dont want to spend loads but at the same time i dont want to buy shite....

would it be better buying a decent set of 2nd hand coilovers instead?

cheers!

something for u regarding the 6n2 front bumper ;) its not as easy as you think...

Them coilovers arnt bad you just sacrifice your comfort of the ride and all bumps are a lot worse but if this doesn't bother you then go for it

The coilies are not bad however do not expect a very smooth ride, however this varies on how low you slam it and if your planning to take helper springs/cut stoppers etc as well, for around the same price you can get uprated springs and shocks which would offer a far better quality drive than a set of budget coilies, but then again unlike the coilies, uprated springs are a set amount, you cant adjust them as well as you can with coilies.

the ride shoothness isnt much of a problem in my eyes, however I'm not bothered for slamming it as low as possible (like a lot of people) - want a happy medium, so i guess i'd need coilovers to trial and error until i get the right balance .....
