Cannot re-sync Key.

Featured Replies

Recently acquired my GTI with no spare key, so I went and got one cut yesterday in an attempt to resync the remote central locking, however it just doesn't seem to be working, no matter how many times I lock the door from the outside with the ignition on etc etc.

Same frequency , what do you mean press the button at the same time ?

Is it not a remote key?

If it is a remote then if you turn the key clockwise to unlock the car then you should press unlock as you turn it, is there an led near the lock pin? I think you may have to wait until it flashes or stays on.

Yeah remote key, but the sequence I've seen is to turn the ignition on, then lock the car on the barrel with the spare key then press the button ?

Have you tried with the ignition in other positions? Ie the first click? I think the method you have read is for the later 9n platform. But I am fairly certain that the led has a part in it.

That is the process for 2002 polos ao that's for 9n platform. But try it as it may well be the same?

Received a new fob today, still can sync, got one bleep out of the alarm , but It didn't make a difference.

How / when did you get the beep?

I'm thinking you may have a dodgy connection or faulty control unit somewhere?

When I first tried to sync, just as I pressed the button on the fob and locked the door

Had you considered calling a dealer and enquiring on cost, they looked at mine for free.

As above it won't hurt to ask, it may be a simple fix and if they do ask you to bend over and brace for impact, then politely decline and head for the door.
