Mk3 Polo White Banded steelies

Featured Replies

Here i have for sale my 1992 Mk3 CL Polo, its been a great little car i bought it early this year and had been off the road for 5 years so i did some work on it and looking how it sits now.

Its had a gt engine conversion which was done by myself the engine was on around 90k i was told but did not get any proof but I've had no problems with the engine at all. It has a de wedged and polished throttle bodie also a chipped ecu, and a decat/stainless exhaust which sounds nice and raspy but not too loud.

The shell its self is on 120k it is all straight no major dents apart from one or two small ones in the passenger door which you can hardly notice unless you really look for them, it is all solid underneath.

The interior is fairly clean with the black carpet instead of the nasty grey cl carpet and also nice comfy corrado front seats. Also has the rev counter from the gt clocks.

The car has been lowered on the front by 80mm on TA springs and shocks and on coilovers on the rear which is lowered to match.

Wheels are banded Mk1 Golf steelies 7j front and 7.5j rear could do with a bit of paint in places but thats just me being honest.

Now for a couple of bad points which all cars have, the bodywork is not in showroom condition the drivers door and wing has some surface rust but would not take much to repair I've not had the time to sort it, it looks like somebody had tryed to repair it in the past but only got to prime it.

It has Mot untill May 2013 and taxed until the end of October

I'm located in Winsford Cheshire, and viewing is welcome but please no time wasters!

I am not sure on what price this would fetch so I'm going to say £1000 but I'm open to offers and swaps.

Can contact me on 07901378839

Well if you are going to insure it as 1.0 with a GT engine in it you might as well not insure it at all and save all the money. After all, we only need insurance after the accident and insuring it with a known modification that hasn't been notified to the company will invalidate any insurance you have.

Strange. Just been on a price comparison website and its the same insurance for this as a GT. May not be for you youngsters, but if it is, then change it to a GT on engine size

Gt for a teenager would be arse raping on insurance, only reason why they don't declare it

But still seems weird in that its exactly the same price for me as another gt on here AND also a mk2 coupe s

Either way, whoever does decide to buy it best change on the policy in case they do have a nasty accident

Doesn't need to be changed on the log book to be kosha with the insurance, as long as you tell them what engine is currently in it the log book is irrelevant. The reason it is the same as a GT to insure is probably because its modified and has a GT engine :?

Any chance of this for sale add getting back on topic now? As said any more detailed photos? Any rust issues other than the door and wing? Has it got the GT gear box on it? How about the GT fuel pump?

Yep ok. getting it back on target. Other than the engine, what else it GT?

  • Author

Yes please back to the topic!

Yes has gt pump and gearbox. Rust wise its only the door and wing all solid underneath although under the arch there is a little rust I've noticed from where the tyres have rubbed. Best bet would be for you to come view for yourself. I will try get some more pics up when i get chance to take some.
