Insurance Irregularity

:x :-X :x

Got my renewal from HIC today, thought well thats literally what i paid last year, so phoned around to check quotes, giving my details I looked through the documents HIC had emailed to me to give modification info, then I got to the declarations and saw 1/7/11 SP30 - £60 - 3 Points, WTF?, phoned HIC up and they have no clue why there there, DVLA have no record of it either (I did a speed awareness course about that time after being flashed in March), So HIC have requested a photocopy of my driving licence just to check I'm not pulling a fast one and to find out where these points have appeared from.

Not amused but hopefully there will be a good outcome.

probably a mistake, i had a claim appear on my policy a few years ago so i phoned them and they deleted it.

did you do a quote around that time in the event that you got 3points rather than the speed awareness course?

Nope. As the driver awareness course was booked months in advance.

Had the points wiped off and renewed my insurance, and then the ball ache begins....

Seems that no one in HIC has a calculator to work out what +1 of everything is, everything looks like its been copied straight over from last years details, no updates of the years extra no claims, purchase date wrong, uk residency wrong, cars owned wrong (as in i dont own any but later in the document it mentions proposer is also the owner).

And for me correcting there mistakes and making sure I'm fully legal they now want to charge me £25.

What a farce.

you know someone seriously needs to just take an uzi into the headoffice of these scumbags need hose them down. you pay them hundreds of your hard earn everyyear yet they still find ways to cause you stress and be incompetant.

btw, was your renewal price cheaper or did you pay the same? complain to them. i did. you just gotta take it further.

Insurance is the biggest rip off ever. When my dad added me to the insurance we had to pay £130ish in fees because of their mistakes.

Had a phone call this afternoon and it was poor wording of a standard document template to blame, the money was actually a refund to me  obviously they dont refund too often so they dont have a properly worded template for that.

ones everything was cleared up my insurance came down slightly, not as much as id hoped but down is better than up.

Thing is I've had my own insurance on the car for 5 years, most likely paid about £4500 in total and in that time I've not needed my insurance company once (touch wood), in the accident I was involved in I told them what had happened and ordered my insurance company to stay out of it and I did everything myself, dealing with the other parties insurance myself, lucky for me the guy tried to deny all knowledge of being in the accident (to the displeasure of his insurance), and this is despite police attending, so his insurance got me a solicitor and courtesy car, the guy decided that he wasnt going to talk to his insurance company anymore, and in the end his own insurance paid out for all my repairs and my medical costs, and then they took him to court personally.

but still £4.5k of my money has gone into repairing some "low risk" driver who pays £150 a years insurance's Jaguar.....It boils my piss TBH but id rather pay it than have my car turned into a 4x4 square block.
