Hi All,

I'm thinking of possibly saving up and getting myself a car which i can modify, specifically for shows and not for use on the road.

It'll either be parked on my driveway, on a trailer on the way to a show, or in a field at a show

My questions are as follows -

is it possible to insure a car, specifically for public liability (i.e. if someone breaks in and nicks something) instead of for damage to a third party vehicle

if so, would the vehicle have to be taxed, or is a zero-cost tax disc available - especially if i can prove that in the last year, the car has traveled exactly 0 miles under its' own power

Would it still have to have a valid MOT?

Or, would it just be easier to SORN it and hope no-one breaks in.

I apologize in advance, as i realize some of these questions will have been answered already (i.e. i know an insured vehicle has to be taxed (and to be taxed, it has to have a valid MOT) just wondering if it's different for a trailer-baby)

If its being trailered everywhere, just SORN it, no MOT and just insure it...

for insurance your current insurer might be able to help you also classic car insurers are a good place to look.

as it's not going to be driven on the road tax and mot won't be required, just remember to sorn it every 12 months.

Once it's insured, does it not need to be taxed?

no mate other way round, if its taxed, it has to be insured.

I knew it was one way round.

Sounds easy then, (find a car and mod to taste) insure it, sorn it, trailer it.

I think the 'fun' bit now is finding someone who does the insurance i'm looking for, some money, and a car!

Yeah, it's called 'laid up' cover. Public liability is something totally different.

No offence mate but i cant stand trailer queens. Cars are meant to be driven my friend, seems a complete waste of money if it doesnt even get to see the road.

This was asking for a ripping from the topic title, i only looked to see if it was poor description.
