3 points...

Featured Replies

Quick question; i received 3 points for being on my phone whilst driving, I've handed my license in and waiting for it back.

I'm assuming insurers need to know that I've received these points and i will let them know as soon as i get my license back.

Question is, will this up my premium and will i need to pay it now or when i come to renew? and roughly how much will it go up by

Thanks guys

Any chance of them finding out?

I dont want them to void my insurance

You're supposed to tell them, but in my experience, they'll just say tianks for letting us know.

3 doesn't make much difference, just don't get any more.

cheers guys

You could wait until your renewal, but if anything happens in the mean time ie your car gets stolen or it catches fire etc (jopefiully it doesn't, its not a very nice experience) they will ask for your counterpart and if it has points on it then will most likely not payout.

Yeah I'm gonna tell them not worth the risk tbf. Will my premium increase ?

most likely or if you get lucky they wont charge you either way you've got to ring them to find out, no one here will be able to tell you 100% whether you will be charged or not.

but we all know insurers like to make money. ;)

Let the insurer know as soon as possible, also, a heads up, insurers are really penalising the CU80 offences due to the amount being paid out in claims linked to people talking on the mobile phone when driving, some insurers are loading as much for a CU80 as they would for a drink drive conviction.
