Marijuana

Featured Replies

I can safely say after nearly ten years of abusing my brain and body I have finally been a month without smoking anything, after trying to quit hundreds of times... (which would explain why I've been pale and awkward if i've ever met any of you)

So do other people still partake? Most people that I speak to give it such a bad name, but from my point of view I think you have to have the right frame of mind to continue smoking it. I know alot of people that do smoke it, and it effects them quite badly but they have nothing to get up for in the morning (apart from going to the job centre)

Just wanted to get peoples views on it to be honest!

been there done that

didnt really get into it that much, was more into powder substances and the occasional drop of liquid ;)

but all thats 2-3 years behind me now and must say, I'm generally a happier person

I used to smoke shitloads, bongs, buckets, lungs, toots - mainly three skins in the 90s but went onto king size slims cos it's just easier. And erm, well i had a really good time.

Only thing is, i still lived in a rented flat on my own going off into my 30s.

Thing about smoking pot is that life is kinda standing still. I always held down a job, but that was as much as i could be arsed with. Nothing gets done, no motivation, hopeless. No excelling myself in my career at the start or otherwise, same with people i knew. I was gonna.. but then i got high.. It's just so true.

Since i could no longer be arsed with it, and started living, it's all changed. Got a good job, married and kid, i get out a lot now and life is a far better time. The shit had it's place i suppose, but then when i think where i'd have been in life by now had i not been a pot head for so long, that would've been the way forward.

It slows you down so much, stops you in many ways, it's not the way forward.

But man, you don't like understand, it's just a plant.

Marijuana's bad M'kay.

Alot of people have said that all people that smoke weed do it for a reason, be that a previous experience or just sheer boredom.

Three skins? Is that just three small skins?

Talking to my parents I really wish I was alive through the late 60's after listening to their experiences, my mum saw led zeppelin live in Oxford before they were famous, but can't remember any of the music because she was on acid. MumLAD

I think people around 16-20 that smoke weed nowadays wont have the opportunity to get a decent job due to hardly any decent jobs going and wont be able to meet a nice girl because they will be too high and awkward.

Some of the weed you get nowadays just turns your brain into mush, back when i was 15/16 we used to get 3.5 grams for £20 and that was nice, nowadays its 1.4 for £20 and its blow-your-brain mega grade that rapes your face.

Bunch of my friends went through uni just being massive dope fiends and not having money to pay rent etc lol. Maybe it's just because I go to a crap university though..

That's really why i stopped, i used to enjoy it when you got tons of mild bracken (or squidge/slate/Golfball/red/gold etc solid) and could enjoy smoking it casually, or having proper sessions with it.

But then it just all went super-skunk, loadsa fancy names for the same sticky shit that was hard to skin up with, one spliff and you were spangled. No more hiding the fact from anyone you meet, two spliffs and you're a mess and going nowhere any time soon. Why would you want that?

And when it got to the point when that was pretty much all there was available, i decided i was out.

13 years mow, stopped for 7 months with only a couple of doobs in that time, but back on it again.

legalise it, tax it and we can stop fuelling the black market!

not smoked it in years now but it was fun while i did it. sometimes wonder if that is why i can barely remember my name these days without giving it serious thought, but tbh with the copious amounts of other shit i've done in the past too it's hard to nail it down to one thing in particular

Used to a lot of years ago when I was a kid, but then I realised:

a) I don't need anything that stands a chance of making my more dementted than I already am

b) a nice bit of homegrown's one thing, but, WTF is in that resin shit?

Saf - You're funding a market for BLACK people?!?!?!

Smoked it while I was at school for a couple of years, failed all my GCSE's and couldnt get a job when I left school at 15.

Quit the day I watched my mate walk out infront of a car and get fucked up.

3 moths later I turned 16 was completely off it got an apprenticeship in the motor and 5 years later here I am today fully qualified and going good, seen a couple of lads in town the other day that carried it on from our little 'clan' of smokers and they looked ghastly, looked in bad health and looked like typical chavs

Never again!!

Yeah i like a smoke...the only way to get quality weed now is grow it yourself

or take a flight to Amsterdam every 3 months or so...funnily enough,i do both.

I did it everynow and again just to relax and chill. Use to do buckets in a closed garage! There's only one outcome to that though... Whitey  I've cut off now as a couple months ago had 1 j and that stuff was high grade! Kinda put me off it tbf. Still enjoy the smell from the neighbours down the street

I used to CANE this shit back in school  Shotty bongs over and over until we were utterly mashed. Was more about getting as mashed as possible rather than actually enjoying it.

The stuff stopped agreeing with me a few years ago so I stopped. VWs are my other drug but they don't make me feel sick

This is kind of a common argument, and when I was at school would have agreed with. I was never a user, but I belived in liberty and the choice to do as you want. But life has made me change my mind. Although I've had friends who have gone through the drug thing at various times and come out the other end ok, there is no denying that if made legal, more people would be come users and thus 'addicted'. As Mikey has said, it kills motivation amongst other effects. Although I believe that people should be allowed to make their own choices, I also think that a lot of people are too dumb to make the correct one. I'm not going to judge people who take drugs, as it is your choice. But making it legal would open the flood gates for too many people to experiment. We have a big enough problem with booze in this country, so i dont want more problems because of drugs. I'm not going to judge people if they take drugs, unless of course its taking over their lives just as I don't judge people who like a drink, unless their pissing their pants and spewing on their girlfriends. But until the majprity of people are able to make the sensible decision, I think drugs are best left as they are for now.

^^ My problem with that issue is more the blame issue. Thousands of people ruin their lives on drugs in this country every year, a close mate died of a heroin o/d and yes he started with pot and moved up through the same supply chain hand-in-hand as many pro-legal supporters deny happens.

I also know people who destroyed their financial statuses, messed up careers, and damaged their bodies with drugs, and also those who had mental issues - most were fine eventually. I don't believe i was in the thick of drug culture, i believe it's more common than any statistics admit - i believe pot is on every street in Britain, and at least 90% try it.

As it stands, whatever happens, it's illegal so you've only got yourself to blame. The problem for the government is that if they legalise it, people will still end up off the rails in a very damaging manner, and yet they'll have broken no law - the government then get the blame not just for bad business due to supporting a nation of dopeheads, but also the darker issues including mental illness and accidental death as a result of being under the influence.

So the government aren't ever gonna be able to go for that, are they..?

Been smoking it since i was 13 and now I'm 27, havnt really stopped for longer that a week since then. Hasnt effected me as it does to some people, you just have to

have the right mind for it. Got myself smokin less than i used too and its saves having to smoke ciggies. I think you just have to be carefull and to know when its

fucking with your head. lifestyle wise hasnt stopped me doing what i want to do, just bought a house, got two dubs on the drive, a alright job and a lovely missis.

Not bad for a stoner

but people still managed to ruin their lives, destroy their financial status, mess up their careers and damage their bodies without the help of illegal drugs. if it was legalised and taxed nothing would change in the problems it causes but the money from taxation would be going into things like the NHS and police rather than some dodgy drug dealers pocket, at least this way it would be funding the agencies that its existence puts pressure on. i don't think it's legalisation would increase the amount of people that try it, if you think that than you blatantly have no real idea of how big it is, personally i don't think it would be possible for many more people to try it at some point because pretty much everyone does at some point already

si saying people should be free to make a choice as long as its the right one is a bit of a silly comment. right choice for who? you? them? the dealers? the police? if some one is happy to go out and work all week and spend their earning on getting stoned then who is anyone else to say that's wrong? the only thing they are actually doing wrong is buying it as it's illegal, yet it's perfectly legal to buy 6 litres of cider, where's the logic in that? also one of my most successful mates is a massive pot head, at work he's wearing armarni suits and going over to Germany to set up computer systems for other parts of the company, out of work he sits around another mates house drinking stella and smoking joint after joint. he drives a nice car, he goes on holiday to exotic places a few times a year, he wears expensive clothes and has all the latest gadgets. just because some one chooses to smoke weed it doesn't make them a bum and it doesn't mean they can't make good of their life.

personally i think it will never be legalised as it would be almost impossible to govern as there are already so many people growing it in their homes, how do you close down some thing that already has the infrastructure in place to keep a country supplied, and then setup a new infrastructure to supply it all through legal channels. it would only be legalised if the government could profit from the proceeds imo

Eh? Aren't you arguing against a point you agree with..? :?

What you been smoking, Guy? :smoke:

The right choice is one that has no/minimal impact on someone elses life. Drugs have the ability to do that (as does drink and smokes) whether it be in terms of tax money spent, or people becoming messed up and unable to work. This does happen anyway, I'm perfectly aware of that, even with legal vices like alcohol. But to legalise it would add another layer onto that.

I feel I'm quite aware of the size of the drugs issue, but I also think that more people would experiment if it was legal. I know people who drink to excess, losing whole nights and stomach contents down their fronts, but won't touch drugs because they are illegal and their is a stigma attached. They can't be against being messed up because they are happy to get slaughtered in the worst way, in a way drugs rarely will.

Understand I have to be a little careful with my opinions with this. But if someone wants to spend their time getting stoned, so long as they are an adult, then that really is their choice. But if that then impacts upon others, then it becomes an issue for me.

We will always have a drugs issue in the country, illegal or otherwise. Tax revenue generated from legalisation it would seem useful, as would removing the crime that surrounds the culture, but there's many pitfalls that need considering too. As i said, if everyone was sensible enough to be recreational and moderate with use, then I suppose legalisation would be fine, but since people constantly show they are unable to handle drugs (I'm talking alcohol here) then illegal ones are probably best left as they are.

i wasn't just refering to your post mikey i just quoted that as the first bit of my post was referencing it. i got off on a bit of tangent once i got going so it's a bit all over the place

this is what i was aiming that part at

there is no denying that if made legal, more people would be come users and thus 'addicted'.

It's not just the issue of legality being a put off, but availability too. ATM you need to know the 'right' people, and as advanced as the logistics structure of big drugs cartels is, its not as if there's a shop selling crack on every corner. Once legal, availabilty, and use would increase. If you can't get it, you can't take it. Pretty simple

Trying drugs is one thing, but being a habitual taker is something else. To try drugs you only need a friend with a spare bufty.

I think there's a point in what Si's saying, but i think it'd be minor. I don't think much would change with the younger generation, more likely that older professionals would come out the woodwork with it.

What scares me about this is the kids issue. Toddlers don't pick up alcohol off the floor and eat it, like they do with bits of mud and shirt buttons - if we get sloppy with pea-sized lumps of strong smoke then there are gonna be some tragic headlines.

To legalize it may have advantages, but it would be utterly irresponsible.

si the difference between someone drinking to excess and some one smoking to excess is massive. when have you ever seen someone stoned out of their mind try and start a fight with someone?

weed doesn't impact on other people like drink does, obviously if you get stoned then jump in a car and crash then yes that would but that's hardly fair to then blame weed, that's like blaming drink for getting caught shagging your misses sister

growing up me and most of my mates smoked weed, lots of times to excess. many a whitey was pulled on a Friday or Saturday night and never once was an ambulance called or any thing else that would of put any pressure on any of our services. we never got stoned and then went out trying to start fights or owt, we just sat around listening to hardcore and chatting shit

i'm not saying that all drugs should be legalised, but i feel that weed is one that could be legalised and be a benefit to the public if it was, but as i say i don't think it could be just because it would be so hard to police

you say that if legalised more people would try it as the stigma is taken away from it but that also has a flip side. if it was legal then some people that would of tried it if it was illegal might not, some people only try stuff because it's illegal and seen as being cool
