  • Thought I'd update this a year after my last post.   A few things have changed, mainly it's now rolling on 16x7 bbs rx211 and sporting a hella grille

  • Thanks 😃 I had 25mm rear spacers with the ra's, I've gone back to 20mm with the speedlines

Nice and clean! I've got one of these... don't worry, the colour grows on you 8-)

I spy a Mk3 'Loon ;)

Whatever wheels you go for in the future, consider painting them white, for it goes well with carribean green. Something like a set of G60s.

I went for mk2 or 3 golf steels with mine, I'm still looking for one of these to replace mine

Update

The other day I found out that I had a soggy carpet in the drivers foot well. After checking all the usual places for leaks and finding nothing, I noticed that my door had a window guide seal missing. :?

After hours of searching the internet and asking around, I couldn't find one anywhere. I was about to give up the search, when my Dad told me to take the door card off and see if it had been taken down with the window, as this had happened to one of his cars. After removing the door card, I put my hand in the bottom a found it in a pool of water as it was blocking the drain holes in the door. It's now back on and water tight again :-D

Fook! Thats a nice hole!

Don't bother bodgin it with sealent or firbe-glass, it just makes welding a replacement panel in the future a right ball-ache!

Get it welded up!

Progress is a little slow but its now been lowered along with some clear indicators and I smoked my side repeaters slightly. Other than that I've just been generally been tidying it up.

Cheers, no the tray hasn't been welded yet just a quick bodge job for now until I get it on the road, not the best job but it's stopped the water getting in. Yeh i know the rear plate is worse.

Mike's purchased some steels at a right bargain. 5 Steels with G60 centres £50.

Advertised as mk2 Golf steels but whether they are or not I'm not entirely sure. To me they look like Coupe S steels...

Yeah, I don't think a Golf GTI/GL would come on 13" wheels?

Went to pick up the wheels today. There in pretty good condition but could do with a re-ferb. New tyres will be needed as they have 175/70 fitted at the moment which are massive.

Haven't updated in awhile, not much has happened lately due to weather and just general laziness. I've been refurbing my steels which are nearly ready to go on, just need top coat and lacquer then tyres fitting.

Just a quick picture with my yellow bulb caps fitted. You can't really see them in this one but at a certain angle they reflect around to whole light.

As the weather has been so good this weekend, I decided to finish cleaning all the glue and tar off the sides and remove the rest of the match badges off the doors. Also raised the back up a notch as it was speed boating.

I got around to finishing the steel too. I'll be getting the tyres put on some time next week ready for when I finally insure it :-)

It still needs to settle but I quite like how it sits. I've also put the amber indys back in as the clears looked abit discoloured.

Looks great!

Thanks mate, it's surprising how much difference just changing the wheels can make.

Decided to give her arches a good clean today, they scrubbed up pretty well.

DSCN0967_zps694e435a.jpg

Also gave the bumpers a going over with a heat gun and some Auto glym. I was surprised how much darker it made them. Here's a half & half picture
