Found some Revell model enamel laying around so thought I'd put it to use by restoring the polo badge. It took a while but I think it was well worth the effort.

  • Thanks 😃 I had 25mm rear spacers with the ra's, I've gone back to 20mm with the speedlines

Thanks to MDB Images

Went to pick up the wheels today. There in pretty good condition but could do with a re-ferb. New tyres will be needed as they have 175/70 fitted at the moment which are massive.

Update.

It's coming up for a year of the polo being in my ownership. Doesn't feel like I've had it that long. So as the weather was good I thought I'd treat the paint to a good deep clean. It was covered in small scratches from people in carparks and swirls every where.

So after a good wash and removing the bugs and tar I gave it a polish with Meguiar's ultimate compound on a rotary polisher. It did a great job of removing the swirls, lighter scratches and oxidation, there were a few deeper scratches left behind that will need flatting out. After the whole car was done I gave it a few coats of Dodo juice wax.

The picture doesn't do it justice, was a cloudy day when taken, it looks alot better in the sun.

Also got a LHD rear light sent over from Spain which tidies up the rear end abit

Next purchase will be some pressed plates and also tax which has gone up :disgust:

First up, my mate was breaking his 6n so I've had a few bits off it.

Steering wheel

Also had the rocker cover off it but that needs a good polish.

Fitted this a while ago, it's out of another match coupe that was being broken. Haven't seen another one.

Next, I got tired of treating my bumpers every few days so I painted then satin black and fitted some silver pin stripe

Thanks mate. The mats must be quite rare, I'm guessing they only came in the match and parade.

The polo is off the road for a few months so I though I'd tidy up a few little bits. I Started of by stripping the front end and wax oil all the hidden areas.

DSCN1077_zpsdc0ffafc.jpg

Then off with the front suspension which was given a wire brushing and a lick of good old hammerite

DSCN1085_zps8dcb7111.jpg

The top mounts were shagged so I've replaced them with some febi early style ones along with lowering top caps

Next will be to tidy up the rear suspension.

Put my vento steels on, they're 14x6 et45 with 165/60's. Will be needing spacers to get them to sit where I want. As my rear brake line need replacing, I was thinking of getting stub axle spacers and putting my 20mm spacers on the front. Still needs to settle in this pic

Finally got some alloys, all be it they're only 15" Ra's but a straight swap for my vento steels you can't really go wrong

DSCN1288_zpsec43a690.jpg

I really liked how it looked on the vento steels for some reason, but still looking great and I love the colour!

  • Author

Cheers. I did to but they had a silly high of set and would of needed 20mm & 40mm spacer for them to sit how I wanted them to.

I honestly think those vento steels looked completely the sex mate, the RA's also look boss! but I dont know haha, in an ideal world i would keep switching between both sets myself I'm torn. I really like what you have done here, similar to what I'm in the process of doing myself, i just want a super clean air of quality oem look lol, you have pulled it off massively and the I must say top work cleaning the bay too. I'm watching this one!
