mk1 caddy gtd, tnt - £900 swap

right I'm bored of this now I've owned it way too long and my and i need to downsize my fleet and get a propper van.

mot - december, tax end of november

engine - 1.6 gtd, running a front mount but everything else is set at factory i havnt messed with any of the settings as i was too lazy. not sure on engine mileage as came from a breakers yard, was told 100k. I replaced the old straight diesel and 4 speed box with this

GTD and also added a 5speed gearbox, new clutch, new cambelt too, id say I've done about 10-15000 miles in the truck since doing this. Its goes pretty well for an old truck and is stupidly good on fuel, id say around 50mpg on a run, and not much less around town.

GOOD

ready to drive, runs spot on, i do a shit load of miles in this and regularly do 500+ miles in a weekend in it. This is my daily driver and has been for well over a year.

can run on straight veg oil if you so wish, I've been running it on proper biodiesel at £1 a litre.

lowered on coilies front, flipped axle and blocks on the back, can still take any amount of weight in the back as i added some custom bump stops.

pretty solid for a caddy, possible need a couple of patches on the sills for next test, less than 10cm at most, seems solid everywhere else.

its got a 2.5 custom down pipe and rest is 2 inch to the back.

polo GT front seats, has a cd player and speakers in the doors, nice gti black carpets

Bad

slightly lumpy first thing, clears after a few seconds, bit of smoke on first start, just old diesel style, poss one of the glow plugs is down, but it always starts with no trouble. The exhaust sometimes knocks on the tunnel it just needs adjusting, it hasn't bothered me as it doesnt do it all the time.

Its rough and ready, bed is shot but usable (wavy and has a few holes that have been patch with fibre glass), has some filler on one of the rear arches and the paint work is poor as you can see.

heater fan is noisey on speed 3

few niggly faults - clock lights work (when headlights are on) when they feel like it which isnt much, fan and horn are on a switch.seats dont manually adjust you have to reach under to do it, altho in a caddy that isnt really an issue as you dont move em much.

Hand brake isnt amazing but i think its upto MOT standard, altho it could do with a new drum on the back, as one hole is threaded and has been for months.

Bargain price for a tnt'd caddy, will need some work come mot time but its not a bad en and it wont need hours of welding like most seem to, its been my daily driver for over a year now.
