Keying. anyone experienced it themselves? I haven't but i've got two friends that have. One of my friends had his BMW e36 keyed a couple of weeks ago.

perhaps the worst thing i could think of, i'd rather someone drive into it rather than make a deep scratch all the way along it. Not worth going through insurers for and certainly not worth getting resprayed.

Just wondered if it happens to people who own show cars often? I guess most show cars aren't daily's so probably not. I dont get it. why do it to a complete stranger you never even get to see the reaction of?

Also, when some c... opens his door into yours. What's that about? its not exactly hard to hold the door without smashing into the person next to you. Just the other day I came back and a van had his door resting on mine whilst he sat and stuffed his face.

I fucking hate pikeys.

Winds me up it does. Had it done to my daily there's 1 deep scratch and 3 or 4 minor ones which look like they will polish out.

My Polo was sitting in the same spot my daily usually does and got the dusties nicked.

Never happened to me, in my 20yrs of driving. I recon there are several reasons for this.

1) Luck. And this is probably the main one.

2) Never really driven the type of car that gets keyed. They're not all beemers obviously, but still.

3) Careful parking. For one, i don't park in such a way to annoy anyone, and secondly i don't park there if i have annoyed anyone! Then i tend not to parallel park along a pavement, mainly because there are few places i go where you can (only really use bays).

4) Little culture of it here - i haven't heard of anyone getting their cars keyed for as long as i can remember.

I believe it comes down to luck and area. It's a disgusting thing to do. But no car is invulnerable I believe. My friend had his shit looking corsa B keyed... Ironically that probably added value cause it couldn't have got worse.

More like no one ever wants to get involved... So frustrating how people turn a blind eye to stuff like that. A couple of years ago I lived on a main road. Cars come past every 5-10 seconds and people walk past constantly. We had a long drive but nonetheless, we were clearly in view to passers by. one day we got burgled. This guy climbed into our house through a tiny open window (not entirely sure how he did it, was almost impressed by his snake like properties). Nobody saw it. No one. Not the people opposite not people driving past nothing. Now excuse me but, someone half way through a window doesn't look normal?! Especially considering he must have struggled to get in...

Got the bastard eventually anyway. Ha!

it's pretty much the same down my way.

This is something that that does my tits in, i live in a decent area but because all the kids round here have just discovered beer or wkd or whatever shit they drink they think its ok to walk down the road and vandalise what ever they can. for example going out of my road yesterday there is a 12 plate insignia that one has thrown a road sign at the bonnet and windscreen??

Never had my car keyed, but its been the subject of vandalism in other ways (like people running up the bonnet, kicking wing mirrors off etc.) mostly because I used to park my car in a pub car park of a saturday night. Also, my friends thought it was funny. Gimps

Only case of this I have to report was some idiots that punched out a load of wing mirrors in my town. The daft nice people did it on the high street in plain view of CCTV so were caught a day or so later

People who key are jealous twats. They see shiny paint and decide to destroy it as its better than what they have. Never had it done and hope it stays that way. Although i've had plastic flowerpots full of dirt thrown over my car, after i'd spent 3 hours washing and detailing that evening (i know it was kids). I've had a load of valve caps nicked. My moms Golf got the rear wiper arm twisted too. My dads golf got fuel stolen. All while parked in the drive.

Away from the drive, my dads camper got keyed a bit on one door, and his valve caps nicked, and a rear light blender stolen. My doors on the MK1 and white mk3 i had were always getting dented in car parks. With the white one i used to park away from other cars, and if there was a car next to me on returning (i take 15 mins max shopping) i know thats whats dented the door. Once somoeone took a chunk out of the paint, as well as denting it. So i just kicked my door into theres, the corner of the bump strip protected mine from further damage. People who vandalise cars or dent them by carelessness are retards.

never had the miss fortune of having a car keyed, but every car i have owned in the last 6 years has recieved a stooopid ammount of dings down the side of them from USELESS FOOKING MORONS!! who cant open a car door without kicking into the side of mine :( my Rocco has about 20 down each side in the 3 years I've owned it one is the size of your fist and about a inch deep! Grrrrrrrr! i even caught the owner of the car that did the big one and they denied all knoledge the bastids even after i pointed out my paint was on her car and hers on mine! Karma got her back thou her crappy corsa was on bricks with the door bent back 2 weeks later lol. She was mint when i got her and now there is only 19 CL's left on U.K roads i think i could cry! id rather they keyed it much easier to repair :(

A young guy rocks up in a brand new cayman last year, nipping into the local shop

An 50ish year old lady in a 02 plate fiesta parked next to the porsche. She smashed her door into it, leaving a visable dent from 30 yards away from where i was parked having a ciggy. She got out of the car without even glancing at the damage, then proceeded to rest her walking sick on the porsche!

So i went to look at the damage as she wodled off into the shop, the dent was pretty bad in the door, I made sure the key mark was very visable and readable.

The guy in the porsche somehow didnt even notice the dent and drove off. The womans face on the other hand was priceless.

Me and my friend one time was walking out of Asda car park and a old woman reversed into a brand new insignia, we stood and watched where she got out and looked at it, got back in and started driving off. With my excellent FBI skills I noted her REG, ready to grass her straight up. Luckily she stopped to go and find the woman to tell her and I think they sorted it out but believe me if she drove straight off I'd sit and wait until the owner of the insignia came out and tell her to report it. It's so disrespectful.

As for the keying of my car, it's never happened where we currently live luckily as I live on the main road which runs straight through the middle of our town and we get A LOT of drunks, gypsies etc going past. Luckily my dad is quite a well knows guy with basically everyone in town and if anyone ever does anything it's either grassed up to him or stops. One time we were all in bed fast asleep though and a car drove straight into the back of my dad's tranny van. (We're not gypsies, work van ) but anyway, they just drove off and with it being so early in the morning there was no witnesses and my dad just sold the van on, still to make a profit out of it. No idea how he does it but he does haha.

Oh and one time when my family was away, me and my girlfriend was in bed and someone stole the ariel from her polo 6r, she was quite upset as you would imagine but I got her a replacement which only came in at £10!

when i first saw this i thought you were going to say you keyed his out of jealousy, but then it became quite a good story, can't blame you for that one.

but i just hate it, i feel like i cant leave my car anywhere near where i work, without the worry because it attracts attention.

its like people who have daily's that make a fairly impressive show car. how? every other prick seems to try and ruin it for you.

same here. my car has dents on the rear quarters mainly. and i know exactly when it happens. every so often a fresh one appears... :(

Had this happen to me sometime in the last few days:

Not the first time my wipers have been played with either. When I brought the car back having just bought it I parked it off the road on a sort of gravely lorry park area, well out of the way of the trucks but near where one of the drivers parks his Corsa. When I returned the next day someone had turned my front left wiper blade over. Sometime during the last two days someone has decided to snap my rear wiper blade arm clean off and damaged the paint in the process. (I took the badge off, made a hash of it I know.)

My mate who has a golf, not a dubber. Which he has saved up for since he was 12 has had it keyed 4 times and his sub stolen out of the boot in the space of a week.

Yet again had my car damaged whilst parked yesterday. Took my wing mirror clean off.

Absolute saint of a witness followed the offender, noted the reg and left his details on a note under my wiper. Has restored my faith in humanity that guy!

Police reported to and if it comes to it I'll press charges. Justice served...

For years I've been playing/modifying/working on cars in the middle of the street, annoying neighbors, making my street look like a scrappy at times and the worst thing to ever happen was I had a trolley jack and a breaker bar nicked, but no damage.

Just over a year ago I managed to get into a local unit to store and work on my cars basically so I stop annoying people and I have a nice quiet dry place to work on my cars.

With this unit came a bit of yard space so obviously I use it to keep cars outside.

In the space of 1 year I've had 2 cars vandalised to such an extent all I could do was strip them for the few remaining good parts and scrap them and in total there has been about 4 other cars sat there for just a matter of hours in some cases and windows have been smashed or other minor acts of vandalism.

I've caught people doing the vandalism and others have witnessed it....each time people have been seen they are just kids between the ages of 8 and 14.

The worst bit...because of their age and 'lack of evidence' nothing can be done.
