Hi all, gunna be getting some tyres for my new wheels and just wondering what will be the best sized tyre to go for on a 14x6inch wheel. I would like abit of stretch aswell but not over the top. So hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction for tyre sizes :)

Standard Polo size for a 14 x 6 is 185/55/14.

I think a 185/50/14 looks better on that size of rim though (although your speedo will be out)

I wouldn't recommend stretch on a 6inch rim, I put 165s on before to a get a bit of stretch and the car had no grip on the road at all.

You don't need stretch on such a small rim anyway.

I run 195/45/14 on mine, looks better than most other 14inch tyre sizes I've seen and provides loads of grip.

really depends what you are looking for, people use 155/55's for stretch, 165/55 for slightly less, 175/50 for a good all rounder and 195/45 if you are really concerned with grip and a low profile

also about the skinny tyres have no grip comment, my car when new had 145/80/13 tyres on a 4.5j rim, anything is better than that surely also grip depends on the price (more expensive ones are generally better as they cost more!) brand, softness of compound and tread pattern not just tyre width

also also I'm not concerned about retaining my cars original rolling radius for a correct speedo reading, I'm running 175/50/13 tyres on a 7j rim compared to how it was built with 145/80/13 tyres on a 4.5j rim, i manage fine! but if you really are bothered get something similar to the origial radius like 185/60/14 tyres

you haven't said what car they are going on though so i dont know what your original radius is

175/50 looks the dogs imo. The walls are just flush with the rim, and the front aspect has a nice curve to it. 185 is good, but can look a little aggressive. Then again, it depends a little on the manufacturer of the tyre, as they all seem to sit differently
