Suppose its about time to show clubpolo what I've been up to since i got rid of my mk3!

this is how it was when i got it! its a 1980 series one mk1 golf driver, 101k 4 previous owners not been on the road since 1992! it had apparently been restored but that wasnt the case, had loads of problems with it resulting in a year and halfs ownership and only 600miles have been covered in it, so heres whats been happening.

Rotten petrol tank/sender!

found a cheeky S1 dash for £40 as mine was cracked!

got a waterleak, tried to find it...

found it...

at this point i decieded enough was enough and it was time for an overhaul...

full head rebuild, waterpump sump gasket etc etc this is a mk2 1300 engine btw!

Thats actually made me want a Mark1. Particularly liked it on the Mattigs. Looks forward to seeing pics of it during its restoration :-).

so the cars back! heres some pics of what I've been up to !

so i got the car back from the shop like this

then put everything back together bodywork wise!

and then i got bored so i decieded to trial fit my new bbs bmw wheels!

really made up with the fitment! deffo gonna need a slight bit of arch rolling and maybe 5mm spacers because there running pretty close to the coilovers, i may even get top mount extenders and a chassis notch depending on how it all works out!

Got the engine in! sorted the stance out! just need a few water pipes, wire it up and a few other niggles and it should run! :)

cheers guys! yeh not long now saf mate, i was saying to winston, we need a small block mk1 meet when were all on the road lol!

things left to do are...

wire it in

fit temp sensor and half of thermostat housing

HT leads

add oil/box oil

fit the braided lines

try and fix the fuel gauge or order a new one!

do welding on passenger footwell

tune the carb

all little things aswell too much too list really haha!

oh and I've already smashed one splitter, forgot about how low it is after driving a pick-up and a corsa for the past couple of years! took delivery of the new one today tho!

cant wait to get it on the road now!
