hi I've got a bit of interaction or bodged wiring somewere.with car running if i turn on side lights the main beam blue light is on .when i apply main beam the blue light goes off .also the instrument light cotrol when i turn brightness up and down the main beam blue light goes on and off and the oil warning red light alternates at same time .if i put light switch to headlights ,dip the blue nain beam light comes on and on main beam it goes off . seems to be draining battry slightly as well .any one got any ideas .thanks

Could possibly be faulty headlight switch.

Take your headlight switch out (pair of slim screwdrivers or ideally trim tools). Uplug it and give it a shake next to your ear. If it rattles, it's knackerred.

Edit to add: Check your fuses as well, a blown dashboard fuse can cause some seriously random occurances.

If the switch design is similar to the mk1 Golf, it overheats internally over time and the action of operating the switch wipes the molten plastic and copper debris around causing all sorts of mischief.

Just to make matters worse, there are 3 different types of Mk.2 headlight switch which have different pin locations/functions.
