The shield in the rear arch is a wise move! It's nice they fitted front liners (my old XR2's all had bubbly wings because Ford couldn't be arsed, now i've lost a recent wing on the MK2 because i forgot to put the liner back in) but it would've been nice if they'd put them in the back, too!

May I ask how you flared the arches? Is it a case of folding out the inner lip then just going at them with a roller?

Shell already came with flared arches so I can't really comment on those.

From what I gather, extra metal has been added to the arches, inner and outer. They've made a good job of it though

To be honest, I'm not bothered what goes under the bonnet at the mo. If I can get it mobile without it smoking it's tits off when accelerating hard then I can sell it. I have a GT block/head in good fettle in the unit so it's an option. Lost interest in it now. I'm so fickle when it comes to cars nowadays since the incident earlier in the year

If you want a hand or help finding your mojo again, you know where I am. Depending on when you're swapping and if I can get my Mark3 back on the road, there may be an MH going begging if you want to hold onto the GT motor for anything.

Still got this, ripped the engine out the other week, yet to fit the new one in. Been a busy time sorting out the fleet of cars i own lately so this just got put further back. Still undecided what to do with it yet...

Well, spent the last few weekends carefully fitting a new engine and this one rattles it's arse off. I'm in two minds whether to try another engine or just sack it off. Quite frankly I haven't got the time or the inclination right now to do anything else with it.

That's bad news, is it worth trying a new set of shells or do you reckon its too far gone for such things?

Engine no.3 in and fitted, running sweet at last. Doesn't burn oil and was super clean internally (low mileage ex Mk.3 Golf ABU unit)

Also fitted a set of coilovers to get the stance right and fabricated a new quieter backbox for it. Even wired up the heated seats finally 

Sadly I don't use it often enough and other projects require my time/money so I think it's stay with me is drawing to a close.
