Drivers looking for fights?

Featured Replies

I've just been out and was having a lovely drive until i pulled out of a junction and a lorry sped up behind me then started slamming his brakes and flashing his lights. Then he pulled along side me and started driving closer and closer to me until i was on the pathway so I stopped as kids were leaving school and walking on the pathways. Then he drove in front of me blocking me in almost smashing the side of my car in.

Now was all this danger to me, himself and many kids leaving school worth it just to tell me I'm a little idiot then drive off?

This is mainly a thread for me to vent, I personally am a very calm driver and never in a rush any where.

Any one here a angry driver?

One rule I have is don't cut trucks up, if I can't get to the speed limit before they catch up then I won't bother.

I don't usually but some one was turning left and there was slow moving traffic. Only been driving a month so will just have to remember not every one is as calm as me :p

Inb4 they think they own the roads.

Some trucks/lorries take an age to stop and accelerate, it's very different to driving a car, it requires tactical driving. Something small to you is an evasive action to them, it's not fair to get in their way in any form if you can help it.

They have to take a run up to get up steep hills, so if you're sat in front of them at 30mph going down a steep hill, then hold the same speed going up, that's gonna cause them real problems because you've stopped them getting a run up the hill and now they've gotta struggle - holding up a que of traffic behind, who don't realize it was some oblivious space cake in a car further ahead that caused it. Many people who have never driven a lorry simply don't realize the implications that inexperienced car driving can have on a truck driver's day.

They have to be responsible. They can literally run over you like a coke can and they know it. And they'd like you to know how responsible they're having to be, so it's an insult when you act like you don't have a care in the world. Then when they're in control, well there's the opportunity to express their disapproval - most won't, of course.

Bring back the air horns, i say.

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, universally speaking, when a truck has an issue with you it means you've fucked up somewhere and if you don't know how then you should think about it.

Unless the truck has a non Mainland UK plate, in that case they just cant drive.

Always make sure the truck is fully laden if you intend to piss it off is my advice. as a unladen trailer/tractor unit will out run most things on the road.

You should see the abuse the blue light services have to deal with, I deal with drivers looking for fights on a daily basis as I moonlight as a car park attendant for a hospital that needs roughly 200 more spaces. Drivers trying to fight drivers, drivers trying to fight us, i couldnt give two hoots that people dont P&D I'm there to help find somewhere safe for them to park, most dont appreciate it ddo.

Only if your parked like a idiot/obstructing/in an ambulance bay will you receive a Stupid Tax Notice

had a similar one the other night I was doing 45 in a 40 (I'm a naughty boy) and a berk in a golf kept on getting closer to me and start flashing his lights, so I moved (lifes too short to get stressed out by wankers) he shot off to the next set of red lights (I beeped briefly to signal my displeasure) as we both pulled up to the lights I pulled in behind him as I didn't want to have a confrontation by pulling up beside him. He then darted to the left to get me to pull up next to him so I stopped in line with his rear bumper. lights change away I go he sets off slowly I pull back across as I'm no longer overtaking anyone he then shoots back up behind me so I drop to 30 and then to 20 in a bid to make him overtake (I just want to drive in peace) he sits behind me until the next junction and shoots across three lanes to go off in a filter lane. I used to be angry but like is too short I learned that from MikeyMK's posts on here why get stressed unnecessarily because some else is a prick?

I just had a Pakistani in a Q7 under cut me and almost force me off a roundabout in Falkirk.

When i caught up with him at the next roundabout he wound down his window and sreamed

something about me being a "kafir"...which didn't bother me because i am a non believer.

So i coughed up the biggest bit of flem i could muster and spat it over the passenger door.

So i shouted at him to take his dads car home to the shop as it needed a proper wash now...

He wasn't happy at that and tried to force me off the road again...made me laugh a bit

and brightened up a dull drive home.

Thank you MikeyMK, now i don't have to write an essay on my phone.

Give a truck space and the driver will say cheers, make things hard expect the finger. Ass raping is something we know can intimidate drivers due to our size, but clearly a bad habbit to think everyone is screwing you.

 buster

I have every sympathy with hgv drivers with the amount of bell ends on the road, dads a hgv driver as he tells me some story's... I try to make there life as easy as I can on the roads but for a chavy tailgating saxo driver that's a different story

@Leon

I had a mini driver beeping at me for going 30mph in a 30 zone some people are in such a rush.

I'm just glad my polo didn't get damage because it was sprayed about a month ago. Was just a bit shook up from realising people drive with such rage, p.s the lorry driver was a traveler I've just seen it at the caravan site by me it's the family business.

Sounds like my father! He was picking me up one day after work and on the way out a boss from a company next door stared (obviously wondering who we were and what we were doing in the area) he then pulls behind us and follows, I told my father to go round round-about miss junction and then turn off the junction we missed, it was clear after that the guy was following us, so my father pulls up and he flies out the car (out of gear, handbrake on and seatbelt off in seconds) the guy drives past, so my father jumps back in the car and hammers it past him and cuts in front of him missing him by inches and stops the car yet again, but guy drives past again. So my father follows and just as the guy passes a junction my dad takes it, and we've never seen him again. I can't really blame my father for being angry but if someone is suspicious about something phone police that's why their there, and don't become mister inspector. Lol

Your Dad sounds really clever.

so my father jumps back in the car and hammers it past him and cuts in front of him missing him by inches and stops the car yet again

You dad sounds like a nice person.

if you force another road user regardless of the size of vehicle to slow or change direction, then you're not driving correctly. if you do it on your test you will fail, but everyone makes mistakes once in a while and a simple wave and the mistake is usually forgiven.

His dads a nice person

"kafir" isn't that a very racist term for black folk in south Africa? :?

Arabic for "Infidel", not "Christian" or "Jew" or "Hindu" or any specific group of people. Typically a derogatory term used to refer to a non-believer who has malevolent intentions towards Islam and Muslims.

so its someone that doesn't like Muslims? hardly an insult is it, even 5 year old kids around here use much more offensive terms than calling someone an infidel

edit, looks like we were both right http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaffir_%28racial_term%29

a bloke at work used to live in south Africa and has used it all the time

What do you expect after cutting a lorry up?

No one enjoys having a fool behind/infront pulling a funny stunt like you did.

If anyone's driving like a bell piece behind or infront off me or even cut me up... My best bet is to keep your window up because ill be shouting abuse.

that's about right in most of my experiences

it's a bit hard to describe, but i'll try anyway:

a traffic-lighted x-roads, i was driving straight over the x-road, and there was a car waiting to turn right (my left, so through my path) and because i could see a lorry behind the waiting car and i didn't have anything behind me, i slowed and let the waiting car turn, and got a thanks from the car driver for letting him turn, and a thanks from the lorry driver so he didn't have to slow down, and then speed back up.

i've also had exactly the same thing happen with a bus.

and i've also had a complete retard of a lorry driver behind me... there's a road near me that's a 30 limit for quite a way, then changes to a 60 (now reduced to 50) and (if i want to stay on the correct side of the law, you accelerate after the speed-limit increase) which is exactly what i did... coming up to the sign at 30, i look right, and there's a lorry already trying to overtake, so in my 1.0L polo, i drop down to 3rd and accelerate up to 60, as i am now allowed to, as the speed limit had increased, so he then has to pull back in behind me and he decided to flash his lights at me, i then slowed for a bend and he decided to tailgate (my motto is "the closer you get, the slower i go) i never went back above 20 on that stretch of road, until I turned off... you could almost see the steam coming out of his ears! :p
