Fuel pipe size mk2

Featured Replies

I probably need a rear fuel pot to prevent fuel starvation.

I might just use a Polo mk2f/mk3 injection fuel filter at the tank.

It's got 8mm tails and about 0.5 litre capacity. I've a funny feeling the fuel lines are not 8mm on Mk2 cause my Weber DMTR conversion had a 6mm to 8mm adapter.

Or maybe it is the return line that is only 5.6mm.

Anyone know?

I used the search and only found this polowhack

Pretty sure it's 6mm. 1/4" fits snuggly over them

yeah 6mm. I made the mistake of buying a 8mm fpr earlier this year

I think later mk2s have larger size fuel lines. The restriction is at the fuel tank the outlets are tiny.

Mines as late as they get (November 1990) and its still 6mm.

Could not get the micrometer in there but it feels like my replacement 42 litre tank has 8mm feed and 6mm return outlet. But it is reduced via some rubber tube fitted to outer of old original feed pipe - so by the time the pipe reaches engine compartment it is definitely 5.6mm at the inline fuel filter.

That's where my conversion back to 8mm happens because the filter has 6/8 stepped tails.

I'm fairly sure I'm not consuming so much that 5.6mm is too restrictive.

But I can hopefully go 8mm all the way front to back via a pot, except for the crappy original fuel pipe rubber figure-8 clips.

But if i cannot get a micrometer in there, how will the pot fit?
