Went to Tesco earlier, should be doing coursework so any excuse, and spotted two other modified polos there. So had to take a photo.

I've decided I want to tuck the wires and clean up the engine bay a bit. Partly because I like the looks and partly to keep my craving for more power at bay until next year.

Any way started off with the easiest thing and have relocated the washer bottle. Could have took it off completely then put it back on for MOT but thought I'd put a small washer bottle in just in case I needed to use it in an emergency. Need to tidy up the wiring and secure the bottle under the rain tray but it's okay for now.

I'm going to move the battery to the boot next and then look into where I can hide these wires.

Been saving up for some parts. Bought a colour concept handbrake, done my wheel. Also, just been polishing the hell out of it.

I was saving up for a harlequin/colour concept steering wheel but thought I'd have a go at retrimming it. Bought a 'wheel skin' type thing. You sew it on yourself. It's real leather and feels really nice (especially if you have chunkier hands  )

After:

Also polished the chrome through on my badge :( Luckily had some spare black spray paint.

Wet sanded them with 2500 grit and polished came out rather well

Went to the big meet and had a really good time. Got the usual photos by the planes, lucky for my dad it was his favourite plane a 'comet'.

New (to me) colour concept handbrake came :D Needs a bit of dye but it's in good condition. Was easy to fit as well.

Also trimmed the parcel shelf. Came out pretty well! Just did it over the carpet which gave it a nice effect like it was foam backed leather.

After

Looks wrinklier in the pictures. Also the parcel shelf lifters had broke so used my old RCA lead cut up which actually looks quite good.

Next on the list of things to do

*Colour concept gear knob

*Retrim subwoofer box/redo it and have a false floor (don't know what to do because the box sounds so good)

Planning an engine conversion next year to 1.6 gti. That's if student finance doesn't get spent. If it does get spent I get some inheritance the end of the year so 1.8T!!!

Ordered a colour concept gear knob. Was a bit of a game finding one that's not so worn out it's ready for the bin/over priced. It's coming from Germany so got to wait for the postage to be arrange.

Sprayed the engine cover gloss black. It came out really, really well! Very proud of myself!

Re-dyed the leather handbrake and my seats. Came out very well!! Recommend it to any one for cracked/tired seats. Only got a before and after photo of the drivers side seat. But the handbrake looks virtually new (to me) will get a photo of that soon.

The seats are the same colour looks lighter in the after photo because of lighting.

Awesome :) could i asked what you did to prep the leather for the dye? my leathers dont wanna soak in any dye i put on them!

  • Author

I just cleaned them off and the dye took. I have heard of sanding to remove OEM protection.

Colour concept gear knob on its way. Needs redying so I'll do a proper before & after with a guide for people.

Also ordered heated seat switch and loom because I'd promised myself I'd get it working for winter. Only have the control module under the seat for one seat but 60% of the time it's only me in the car and my girlfriend doesn't like heated seats (but then complains the leather gets to cold  women). So fingers crossed I get that working and my car doesn't burn to the ground.

Quick photo of the car after a nice clean ready for winter. Bough some autobrite products in their sale. ''The Spray Abyss'' and ''The Eliminator'' is what I used on the paintwork.

Colour concept gear knob arrived today! To say I'm pleased is putting it lightly. The picture they sent of it made it look like half the colour had worn off and it needed redying.

Their photo:

And this is how it came!

10421259_10205055187121411_8951372692319

It's in about 95% mint condition, photos make it look worse. Just need to swap the badges over. Will get it fitted soon then interior is pretty much done! (would still like to steal all of Keilcritten's flocked parts though  )

The leather bits are coming up well. Fjord blue is lovely too. It was a strong contender for the new colour on mine but I've it ruled out as I don't want a colour that came on the car.

  • Author

Thanks :P I wouldn't go for fjord blue if I was to respray mine again. I do like the colour but I would go for tenorite grey or the purple off the 9ns.

  • Author

Fitted colour concept gear knob, just need to get a jubilee clip.

1511180_10205082044072818_45236334320263

The leather parts feel so much nicer and chunkier (love a chunky knob :paranoid: ) Considering getting the colour concept steering wheel. But they go for like £100 would rather just get a momo one for that price.

Got all the stuff together for the heated seats fitting so will be getting that done as soon as possible. Don't like getting in a freezing car!

Picked up some 16v/gti front and rear discs on saturday from a guy on here (DoodlesDaddy really nice guy has a fair few parts!)

Forgot to get a photo but will get one tomorrow/tuesday.

Also, should be picking up some G60 front brakes this weekend.

Plans:

*Strip and clean all the new brake components.

*Price up an engine conversion (engine and fitting)

Absolutely love this polo man! I have a 9n myself but always loved 6n's! Hopefully something I may buy in the future;)

  • Author

Cheers  I love the 6ns they're super cheap at the moment to. The insurance is quite cheap on them as well, I'm paying less for my 6n modded than my friend is on his standard 9n.

  • Author

Picture of the brakes. Can't really see the size differences but the rear discs are (roughly) the same size as the current front discs. I'll only be using the hub of the front brakes as I should be collecting some g60 fronts saturday (which are 280mm instead of the 252mm shown here). Just need to buy new discs and pads. Going to price up the engine conversion before I start fitting them though.

HOW DO YOU KEEP WHITE WHEELS SO CLEAN?

looking good mate, what are you replacing her with?

  • Author

Have to clean the car twice a week to keep them clean

Hopefully getting a Audi TT (mark 1)

  • Author

New car bought. Can't believe I'm actually selling this but I always said the car replacing it would have to be pretty special. Think I found the right replacement!

A Mauritius blue with silver leather Audi TT 225 quattro.

Put the deposit down today and will be collecting some time next week when the 6n has been collected.

It's a cracking car! My dad wants to buy one now  but we've already got to many cars so he'll have to make do with borrowing it.

Would love a TT like this after i sell my polo :D How much did it cost you man? You modding it at all? looks sweet
