can you buy the G40 cloth tartan looking fabric? does anybody know the name of the pattern or anything like that?

i want to retrim my seats in the original style cloth so its like a modern day twist.

any help would be awesome!

I believe the name of the design is called 'Monaco'.

I haven't seen the G40 stuff for sale but you can get the mk1 golf stuff and you can also get the modern version of it as seen in the current GTI's

Automotive fabric is more resistance to fading, fire, stretching and wear associated with use in cars.

A well known car manufacture once purchased some fabric from a different source because it was cheaper. It was only when they started getting warranty returns due to the fabric fading and stretching that they found out that they had not purchased the correct grade of fabric for automotive use.

Try calling around to some local upholderers (home or car) as they will no doubt be able to get hold of some if they haven't got it already. They may ak to see the pattern to match it as most wouldn't know it by name etc so email them a picture

going to email around and see if it can be attained.

going to get some quotes for it being made out of panels of coloured leather aswell.

i want to try and take my car back to the G40 roots in places and the seats are a good place to start the theme going

I've got my self a set of half leather recaros and going to get the centre's retrimmed in genisis materials which is the tarten ..

I've got a set of genisis seats which i could use material off as I'm going to be using it in square sections but rather not so woundering if anyones had any luck with finding any materials ?

not sure if vw heritage started selling gti cloth?

look on dubforce.net they got a group buy going for rallye fabric.

shall have a gander now . May be abler to use the genisis tartnen off my old seats as i only need a sqaur foot of it . They grey material should be easier to sorce .
