The car has 12 Months MOT on it and runs out of tax at the end of this month (October).

Suspension: TA Technix Shocks with Eibach 30/40mm Springs

Exterior Styling: Porsche Adriatic Blue

Interior Styling: Full Polo Coupe S Interior

Stereo: Pioneer head unit , Sony 6x9s , Pioneer 4x6 on the dash

Wheels: Note the wheels that will come with the car are the ones on the last photo!

Recently had new coil, condenser, points, dizzy cap, rotor arm, fuel filter & swirl pot.

Runs perfect! Quite fast for a 1.3, cheap to tax, good on the fuel.

This is very well built. I had a look round it at a show. Its actually made from a loon. With bready rear lights/ rear panel and half a bready tailgate :-D

Not really a lot you can do about that as only the builder can put it in for the test and you need a detailed photographic log of the build. You can tell which pickup conversions have not been tested by their lack of Q plate

This is one of the best looking polo pickups imo, they always look more in proportion when made from loons rather than square backs

would only go on q plate if made from other cars or more than one this would never go to a q reg as built from orig car and still over half of orig car.

Doesn't work like that anymore... if the chassis has had any modification at all, even if its notched, will need an IVA test and Q plates, regardless of what it once was...

not having that my dad a mot tester retired last year but hes never heard of that in his 35 years of moting going on q plates most dvla will say is ask for a enginers report but the car would nt go on a q plate for having roof modded and floor and sills reinforsed. just like when you make beach buggys will stay on the beetle reg as it uses the beetle floor pan as my mate just finished his few years ago and that on v5 as a mantra buggy and has beetle reg.

thats actually not quite correct fella old aircooled vws the body is detachable from the chassis where as a polo the bodywork is part of the chassis so this car is technically ion the bracket of a radically modified car so would need an iva or sva however if there are pictures and evidence of the work being done and the process i.e in particular the welding then it would,nt neccesarily need to be on a q plate google up mk4 golf estate modified pick up and in particular the one that belongs to carbon image down in kent the build thread actually covers all this info in there and the fact that it passed all the examinations of workmanship its still on a normal reg plate

this car and the work looks to be well executed so i would have tought it was perfectly o.k providing there was evidence within the build of the work done

drop it into a vosa centre and watch it being pulled apart, if it passed scrutiny

i'd buy it, failing that i'd scrap it cos it's a world of pain imho.

MOT testers are nothing to do with this, there is plenty of info all over the net including on the government web site explaining all the in's and out's of this. As far as I have read this sort of build can only go on a Q plate, quote from the government website

To keep the original registration number

Your vehicle must have 8 or more points from the table below. 5 of these points must come from having the original or new and unmodified chassis, monocoque bodyshell or frame.

Due to it being a modified momocoque body shell it can't keep the original plate

Either way its far from just a case of getting an engineers report, the IVA is a strict examination of not just the car but also the build (which is why you need detailed photographic documentation of the build), also the only person that can put it in for the test is the builder of the car. As has been mentioned the beetle is a separate chassis car so falls under different rules to monocoque cars, but if a beetle chassis is modified (shortened or anything like that) it too has to go in for an IVA test and will lose its original reg too

any way still not end of the world and defo will not go on a q plate no matter what as the owner rang dvla they couldnt give him too much info on the car without seeing it but the lady said will not go on a q plate .. this car has been on road and insured for 3 years even if you want to get it put on log book as a pick up still not end of the world and end of the day theres not another one about so think its worth it myself.but like it states this is my mates car just thought id stick it on here

This would 100% end up on a Q plate, I've just posted a quote from the government website where they clearly state that it will. It's been on the road for 3 years and not been tugged yet, but that's not to say it won't and if it does the new owner will have the registration confiscated by the DVLA until its tested and given a new reg, this has already happened to a lad on retro rides. I'm really not sure where you have come to the idea that this wouldn't end up on a Q plate? As I have said all the info on pickup conversions and radically altered vehicles is freely available on the net so don't just take my word for it, you can find out all you need to know in ten mins

I wouldn't normally interfere with for sale adds but this is some thing a prospective new owner really needs to be aware of, as a community its up to us to look out for each other. I'm not saying you are purposefully misleading anyone but there is a lot of misleading info being posted here.

and end of the day why would this get a pull for the police??? as it just state polo c on log book. and in there eyes what is a polo c?
