I've noticed that on some 6n rocker covers that some have a grove on the top and some are all smooth, does anyone know why ???

because surely vw would of had to put a bit more money into making the grooved ones so there must be a reason!

I have thought that, but have you ever seen a 6n with a throttle cable there....

I have never noticed to be honest but now you mention it my white mk4 has a grooved one and yet when looking up some ideas for tidying up my engine bay I know some of the polished covers I saw when looking for ideas were flat.

Never thought much of it though.

I wonder if it might be a difference between the steel and the alloy engine bodies from 97/98 onwards, but for what reason that would be I have no idea :S.

I thought the MPi's got smooth and SPi's got notched, but it seems not..?

My spi aea had a smooth one. So nah

it is just a cable cut out.. the 1.4 mk3 golfs run there cable through it and my 1.6glx 6n had one

Iv had two MPI one with cutout one without. Although another MPI I have also has no cutout, newer ones no cut out?
