Probably they had to fail you because of the quotas.

It can't be as bad as it was, but it used to be terrible and my test was in the thick of a time when it was actually all over the motoring news. Autocar and Motor i think claimed it'd got to the point where they'd passed/failed you before they even got in the car. The reason they were blowing the whistle, they said, is because people who couldn't drive were being passed.

So when my examiner came out cold and abrupt, didn't look at me or anything, i knew he had to fail me. Despite this, i drove better than he could - it was actually perfection. Nice balance of careful, tactful confident driving with no errors. But he seemed to find one, claimed i'd pulled out on someone. I flatly had done no such thing, it was a total lie. And there was nothing i could do about it.

Second test, examiner was happy and chatty from the start. Really nice woman, warm and friendly - but i spent half the time focusing on our conversations and this caused me to make some terrible errors left right and centre. I mounted a kerb so hard i knocked the steering alignment out, then i just didn't care because there was no way i could pass. But still we got on. Until i stalled it on a busy siamese mini roundabout, when she literally took the effort to have a go at me and tell me how to get the car started and moved quickly.

It was a complete farce but a funny one, i was smiling at the end when i asked for the result, i'd had a good time so i wasn't pissed off - only to be blown away by her telling me i'd passed..

Happy as my instructtor was, i still had to pay for a wheel and tracking!

yeah i know what you mean about the quotes mate,

but i knew i did it and appolagised straight away after i did it, i was coming up to the roundabout to fast because it was clear i was just flowing straight onto it but the last minute someone came round pretty fast from behind the island and i wouldent have been able to stop in time so i had to just get past him, even the examiner said he shit himself because if he had braked we would have been in a crash so really i did the only thing i could have done.

ahh well next ones booked :) its not like i NEED the car I'm only at college soo...

My mates dad was chief driving examiner for the Bedford region for quite some time and he said that it's always better to have your test in the morning because the examiner is more likely to pass you for his quota's.

Did my test first thing in the morning. Passed first time with just 3 minors even though I pretty much did an unscheduled emergency stop at a set of traffic lights because I didn't see them, he wrote it down as hesitant driving bahahaha

his quota's.

As if gaining a driving licence was easy enough.
