I'm new to bike carbs just wanna know a few rings.

Would these carbs be any good for conversion of a 1043cc in a mk2 and would they increase fuel economy? Is it necessary to get it RR'd or can you you set em up yourself with a bit of patience?

I would buy 400cc carbs for a 1.0.

They would work though.

Yeah I know economy isn't key but its gota to be better than a pooberg running 35mpg. Do you possibly have a link to show how to set them up correctly or could you point me in the right direction? Cheers for fast reply. Oh and it that a good price for bike carbs?

There are loads of threads on here chief (FAQ is a good start). Also look at motorbike forums, they usually have good advice on there regarding rebuiling and re-jetting

I guessing I should know what a py is? And yeah I'm currently looking through the bike carb stuff on here, I was just wondering if you knew a particularly helpful guide but they're all good. It'll be a while before I do any of this but I was just getting an idea. Cheers

Best thing to do is like i said, look through the FAQ's to get a good understanding, dont be put off by people having trouble setting them up etc.

I'd recommend using ZXR400 carbs though, they're about right for a 1.3, so may be a tad big for a 1043cc engine.

The ones in the eBay link are 28mm so they'd be fine. You don't wanna go much bigger than that. Most sets for a 600cc bike will be way too big though, like the CBR600F's I use on a 1.6 16v which are 36.5mm (and it still does over 35mpg)

CBF400's should be okay for the 1.0. Your problem is getting carbs small enough from a 4-cyl bike, they need to be under 30mm's really.
