Hi guys, hope you can help me out with this one. My 2000 polo gti key is looking pretty beaten up. It is the standard key that came with the car. can i switch all the insides over to a flip key fob with a blank blade, and have a lock smith cut me a key? This is totally just for looks as i hate having a beaten up key for the love of my life! Here is a link to an example replacement...

Shouldnt be too much hassle I guess. Just make sure you get the right shaped key by checking the code on the key blade.

This is very easy, all you need to do is take the chip out of your own key and glue it into the new one, However i would strongly recommend not getting a cheap flip key. I did the same and within a couple of weeks the hinge of the key gets really lose and you will end up buying an OEM one in the end anyway.

Also you will find that a lot of key cutters wont cut that blade because "its not their own metal" trust me I've been there!
