basically i have a jvc kwavx640 and I've installed a subwoofer with built in amp.

i have the wiring loom installed so that the stereo only comes on when the keys are in the igition and switches off when removed...

normal wiring for the sub - power feed, earthed out and the remote wire going to the blue with white stripe on the stereo loom

however even when keys are out, stereo is off the sub is staying on constantly and is draining my battery....

anything i can try, any reason why its doing this??

No but the electrician who put it in said blue with white stripe is remote wire ???

pull the unit out and check the wiring. the loom should have tags on it stating what wires are what.

According to the PDF it is the blue and white, try it on the blue antenna connection.

Sometimes theres a sticker on the headunit telling you what every wire is, but try that blue/white wire on the multimeter and see what you have, if there's no switch on the rem you have an internal fault with the headunit

To bypass it all run the remote wire from the amp to a switch that is fused direct from the battery saves all the hassle but just remember to switch if off

What should I be looking for when testing the blue and white wire ?? Also are their any other wires I could wire it into on the loom instead ?? Thanks scott

Your just looking for a current and the switch on/off at the headunit mainly your looking for no current when the headunit is off

You can splice it to your ignition switch +poss, or batt+ wire but would need to wire in a switch somewhere

If you have a multi meter just test for a live wire coming out of the headunit when its on, and make sure that same wire in not live when its off! easy.

Otherwise as stated above you could just run it to a constant live and run an inline switch. but to be honest this is just more hastle!
