1992 Mk2 Jetta GX. Black, Coilovers etc. Yorkshire

Featured Replies

Reluctantly for sale is my Jetta. I've not owned this car for long, around 6 months, and was really looking forward to finishing her off for next years show season, but unfortunately due to a change in circumstances, I no longer have space for two cars and she has to go.

Spec as follows,

Early '92 Jetta GX in Black, 1.8 8v carb. No knocks or rattles from engine or gearbox, runs sweet as a nut, gear selection feels tight and positive, a lot better than most others i have driven. Surprisingly, the carb is working as VW intended, the autochoke working perfectly on all but the coldest of days, and even then its fine after a minute or so. I've been using it on my daily commute and i'm currently averaging 38mpg, which I dont think I can complain at really. sometimes suffers from fuel evaporation in the float bowl after a long run and takes a few turns to staart, but an electric pump would solve this easily. Folder full of history with the vehicle, too much to list. The previous owner also fitted a new clutch, water pump, timing belt and tensioner in September of last year, with reciepts to prove

Currently sat on Momo Arrows, 16x7J, on 25mm adaptors front, 30mm rear. 195/40 tyres, could do with a pair on the front before too long. JOM coilovers off my old Golf, were brand new about a year ago. Adjuster rings are free and well greased. The front and rear arches have both been cut to allow extra clearance for the wheels.

Body wise, the car is very solid, with no rust in the usual places. The only major issue body wise is a reasonably sized dent in the O/S front wing, something I was going to sort for next season. Good wings will be included in the sale, just requiring paint. Currently fitted with a golf front, but will be sold with a full Jetta front included, needs one headlamp adjuster to make complete. other than that, there are some car park dings but nothing a good dint man couldnt sort in a couple of hours. Both front arch trims are damaged from running low, could do with replacing but only really noticable up close. US style running lamps in the front indicators. 16 valve clocks with rev counter, showing 94k (will increase slightly as used daily). Actual mileage around 116k IIRC. Alpine double-din radio fitted in the centre console, complete uncut centre console included with the sale should you wish to revert back to standard. Currently fitted with a Polo GT smaller steering wheel, again, original will be included with the car should you wish to revert to standard.

MOT until June next year, Tax until end of December, but can tax at buyers expense if required.

Overall, A good original car that requires very little over winter to bring up to a very good standard. Not many of these left in this condition now.

Price wise, I'm looking for around £1000, taking into account the few bits of work required. No PX please. I am however open to sensible offers.

Any Questions please feel free to get in touch. Located in Sheffield, South Yorks.

Cheers,

Chris

Could you post up some interior pics?

Is £1000 a firm price?

Is it a GTi engine or a gl - ie 66bhp?

Does it have power steering?

Cheers

Its the 80horse(ish) carb engine.

I'll get some interior pics tomorrow but its mostly standard gx spec.

I'll listen to sensible offers but please be aware this isn't the only place its advertised, and I've had a lot of interest, more than I was expecting tbh, so i'm not gonna let it go for silly money...

No power steering.

Cheers

Due to an incident with some debris on the motorway on the way home tonight, the arrows will be coming off the car tomorrow as the front tyres have both been damaged. The car will instead be sat on Audi pepperpots (the wheels i was going to use for winter anyway). All four have good tread. The Arrows will still be included in the sale but with only two tyres.

No mate, the only reason this is for sale is because I havnt got the room to keep two cars. If I could, I'd be keeping it.

Definately no swaps mate? Could I tempt you with a 1.4 lupo on coilovers and bbs e30's? REALLY like this car!
