What about emissions and carbon footprints! Be 4 cars out instead of just one!

You're still in control regardless of peer pressure..

What a load of shit.

May be, but that's also 4 lots of car tax, insurance tax, petrol tax, car parking etc So the government wins again :x at the expense of the motorist

When would this take place?!

Maybe the best way to deal with this would be to take all new drivers, line them up against a wall and shoot them?

End of the day kids will be kids, you can't wrap them up in cotton wool and they have to make their own mistakes to learn from them. All they would be doing is moving the problem up the age line, they spend however long having to drive around by themselves and then once they are able to carry passengers its gonna be like "yay I can finally take people in my car and show them how fast it is and how good a driver i am!". By this point their insurance would of dropped and they would probably be in a more powerful car than they had when they first passed.

Common sense seems to be lacking somewhat among the ruling classes

Wrong guy.

Common sense is just generally lacked these days

Now i start driving soon so if they did this i would not be to arsed only because insurance would come down :) as long as i got to shows and thursday meets then thats fine with me :-p

haha.

Another thing to consider is rather than having 4 youths in the same car with the driver trying to impress his mates, you're now going to have 4 cars with 4 lads all trying to impress and out do each other. It's like no thought what so ever has been put into this, but since when has that stopped the government?

If someone is going to drive like a idiot they will do it regardless of whether their mates are in the car or not

also I'm low and slow haha

They could make it compulsory to slam your car to within a few mm of its life, if you can't take passengers than you can't kill them

So they all drive to the pub separately, can't have a beer so drink cola and Red Bull all evening, then at closing, everyone's wired to fuck and sets off at the same time.

Yeah, like that's going to cut down the number of new drivers getting hurt racing each other!

yesss bruv race you all to maccyd

last one theres buys us all chiken nuggets get me?

So today I have learned it is okay to crash and kill family members but not friends. I'm glad that's all cleared up, my friends will be so pleased.

This is such fascist bullshit, next they will be saying that young people can only be in possession of cars with a certain litreage or they will raise the age at which you can learn to drive. Age does not equate to experience and there is only so much you can do to prevent an accident. Some people will still drive like tosspots even if they are in the car on their own.

Also surely not allowing one person to drive others places will therefore increase the amount of cars on the road and heighten the potential for an accident as a results as well as increasing emissions?

Right, I'm off to drive my car, in the dark, with a passenger who is not family, if you hear of a mass-car pileup around the Bedfordshire area that's probably my fault, or someone else who's just innocently trying to go places...

haha cant believe people can be so stupid to even try and pass this law, by the time ypir able tp carry friends(21 ish i believe) you could insure evos and the likes of just think of the kind of carnage you could cause with one of them rather than your 1.0 litre polo that your paying an arm and a bollock for!!

There's a poll now on the MSN homepage so far 20,180 votes 47% in favour of the proposal 53% against it, bigger response than the voting for the Police chiefs job on Thursday

So today I have learned it is okay to crash and kill family members but not friends.

Hadn't even thought about it that way

Fucking nice people il carry all the sluts I want!

Fucking nice people il carry all the sluts I want!

Here here!

I can see the reason behind it because the passengers usually end up much worse off, but introducing a new law not allowing passengers isn't going to solve the problem.

No proper instruction is given to the driver on how to position themselves and judge speed on the approach to bends and they will end up in a situation where they're traveling too fast for the road conditions and don't know what to do, especially if he/she is being egged on by passengers.

another aspect of the problem is the test and the way instructors teach their students, they just focus on the test which is not 'real world driving' because of things the examiner expects from you are mostly useless and forgotten soon after test along with some of the sound advice given to you. also not no including motorway driving in the test is so dumb it is beyond belief, in fact all the car/motorcycle drivers/riders that have not passed a test in a higher category or had any further training after the test have none of the skills required to use the motorways safely, they have to make it up as they go along!!

Then you have the "i've just passed so must be a good driver" problem, all the test proves is that you've reached the absolute MINIMUM standard of driving to be able to drive unaccompanied, the real learning begins when you pass. ;)

There's a lot of sense in what you're saying there. I personally believe having taken your test you should have to do either PassPlus or your advanced within a period of time or go back to a provisional. Up until then, one passenger only and a limit on performance, like on a bike.

^^ True story.

In the 50s was a sense of empowerment and achievement with people and government hand in hand, the young respected the elder, it was earnt from the wars.

In the 60s the young made the best of the freedom resulting, public empowerment was at an all time high, there were parties in the street.

In the 70s the honeymoon period was smashed as the government and public had to find where they were going, neither agreed, and by the 80s the system was clearly divided all over the place.

Everyone was so skint in the 90s that nobody cared, but from then there was a new agenda - a controlling government came down hard with the excuse of 'terror' and have been at it ever since.

Young drivers, we used to get pulled often and told to hand our documents in, but as long as we were legal we were as free as anyone else. Now you're criminalized, it's disgusting how you're treated. This is bullying, combined with corruption between insurers and.. the whole system is in the shit, banks are going down left right and centre because of greed, and you're easy pickings, simple as.

It's disgusting. You're either free or you're not. You either passed your test or you didn't. And unless the fucking lot of us stand up and fuck these people in the face they'll carry on. Do not agree to it. Do not agree to trackers, you may as well pull your pants down. Do not agree to any insurer treating you like a second class citizen - they are a business, they need your money, it only cost a few quid extra a month to say no and once their agendas are failing they'll no longer afford the trials. Yes there have been pie-in-the-sky ideas and systems that failed before. Do not accept the shit.

^^
