Some of the laws that they are trying to bring in for new drivers is utter bollocks. Once you've passed your test your not allowed to drive in the dark til your 21 and when you hit 21 you don't know how to drive in the dark and crash your car into a fence at the end of the street cause you don't know how to turn your fucking lights on or how to even drive in the dark.. It is wrong what they are trying to do to young drivers, we pay to much money for insurance as it is and if we pay that much I think we should be allowed to drive in the night give mates a lift and what ever other bullshit they are trying to bring in we are legal got insurance tax mot and a licence what a load of bollocks the government are just c**ts.. By the time young drivers are 21 we will have ncd's and have more powerful cars like vr6's and that's going to be even more fucking dangerous are the government trying to kill more people or save them

under 21's not allowed to being allowed drive in the dark will not pass because even if you work 'normal' hours say 8-4.30 in winter you'll be driving home in the dark and the many under 21's that work nights/odd hours won't be able to get to and from work.

Wouldn't put it past this country tbh

It is a ridiculous idea that i doubt will ever be enforced. There are so many problems that would arise if they restrict driving hours or who you can and can't carry in your car.

If they really want to reduce the number of teenage accidents and deaths, i think they should drastically rethink the way we learn to drive... I rarely feel safe in my mates cars, its not that they're trying to 'show off' or are manipulated by the passengers, most of them drive like grannies but they're simply not used to controlling the car, or don't understand how to react to certain situations or, how the cars reaction changes in different circumstances, theory test is pointless and really doesnt help much at all imo with these things.

I think people should be able to begin having lessons from the age of 16 but not be able to take a test until 17... also think there should be some sort of skid pan assessment, and some sort of place off of the roads where learners have to practice how to react to real hazards, rather than say, a rabbit hopping along by the side of the road. In lessons people should be taught how to control the car and position it on the road/in the lanes better too, especially around some twisty narrow roads.. rather than checking mirrors every 2 seconds and your speedo to make sure youre not 2 mph over the limit!! The test should be a lot longer aswell (mine was only 30 mins) and not be based simply on minors and majors scoring, examiners should concentrate more on the drivers control of the car! for example, my cousin got 13 minors, the examiner passed him and said ''youre an accident waiting to happen'' 2 days later he crashes, its bloody ridiculous lol........

So yeh, basically i think the main problem is lack of understanding of car control! and i think thats down to experience... not their pathetic stereotypes towards teenagers.

the theory test has it's good points but the hazard perception part of the test is pointless, so what if you spot a hazard 1 mile off its what you do about it that matters.

what they expect form you on the practical test is a joke most people don't realize most of the test is bollocks and does not apply in real life.

the actual driving ability required to pass is so low its unreal!

as long as you put the car on the right part of the road you'll pass, no thought is given to taking the right line around a corner to promote stability and reduce tyre wear and fuel consumption.

no matter what anyone says when a 17 year old gets in a car with his mates he will show off especially if his mates are egging him on very few don't, i reckon 99% of people on here have done it at least once..
