What car is better between the lupo and polo gti also what has more issues etc if any as I'm unsure on what to get got £2500-£3000 to spend also any difference on insurance tax mpg etc thanks guys :-)

Thought I'd better add I'm 27 and owned seriously fast cars in the past ie sierra cosworth ,m3 rx7 twin turbo to name but a few so the new car I'm looking for is mainly for 25 miles a day to work and back and a little blast maybe ;) but mainly want reliability and sporty looks

Just been getting my lupo this week, only the 1.4 but its pretty nippy and handles the road well. Personally I prefer them to polos. There proper jazzy!

My vote is for the polo tdi for the daily commute or a Lupo tdi if you can sacrifice the boot space.

There very Eco, virtually bomb proof and are very easy to live with.

Should also of stated that this is our second car the wife will now be having my 530d touring so space isn't really an issue tbh after posting the op I've trialled thru a fair few threads and been shocked by people asking similar questions to me and been told peddle boxes gear boxes bottom end of engine window regs ate are all very weak items which really does surprise me as I thought vw were really good cars we even sold our fiesta to get 1 and that had no issues

Lupo gtis are a really good car apart from being more expensive and quite tinny inside. The handling is great, aswell as the engine is a really good base for more power .

Looking at the cars you've had I'd say to go for the polo tdi as your going to be dissapointed with all 3 of those cars in comparison to others! So the most eco one is the best choice I'd say.

So long as you don't mind having next to no boot space. Lupo GTI. Yeah, it's not fast compared to mos of the stuff you've had, but they're certainly not at all slow, and the size makes them feel a heck of a lot faster. The handling is stupidly good as standard, they're a 6 speed (the Polo's a 5), and they just seem far better put together than the same age Polo GTI.

I've driven one a few times and it's definately on my cars to own list.

I usually speak against Lupos, and the GTi has some expensive aluminium panelwork to maintain along side it's frumpy shape with the capacity to only carry four people and a packet of biscuits.

But with the big 6-speed Golf gearbox the big weakness with the traction control equipped Polo version is ommited. Combine that with it being lighter and a shorter wheelbase, and it promises to be the choice for the driver.

They hold a premium though, in fact they're in another league on resale, so you wanna know you're gonna get that back. I think if you look after it then you will.

There's that few of them, and they're such a good car (often called the successor to the Mk1 Golf GTI at the time), I can't see them ever depreciating.

Lupo GTI without a doubt. They handle well as standard, with a decent set of tyres and suspension they are even better. They come in 5 speed but really you want a 6. They are totally different to a standard Lupo, the shell is different. They have a wider track up front for better handling. Xenon lights as standard. Alloy bonnet, wings and doors. If you buy a good spec one in the right colour you won't lose as much money (if any) as you would on a Polo GTI. Polo GTI is common, Lupo GTI is a lot rarer.

Thanks for the advice guys well I've found this one what do you think

Hasn't had cambelt done and full history and lots of receipts tax etc but seems cheap compared to many others should I be worried I'm viewing tomorrow morning 1st 1 I've ever gonna of looked at what should I be looking for

That's cheap compared to a lot of em.

polo tdi only thing wrong is low sump but raise engine 20 30 mm and all sorted :D but great on fuel pulls really well map to aaround 110bhp :p turbo intercooler and pd 130 stuff down pipe and strong mapp hellp almost 140bhp :D with over 300 lb

you dont feel bhp when you put your foot down, you only feel torque which is why I would choose the TDi
