After 2 years without a polo it was time to find another, picked up this on Wednesday.

It needs a few things like a timing belt, new bushes, and theres a knock in the steering at slow speeds.

Its not too bad bodywork wise, few bits of bubbling on the arches and a hole by the windscreen.

Plan is to first get it working good, then after winter get new wheels fitted and get it lower!

Already have some 13x6 BBS Mahles to go on after a refurb, test fit-

Painted some hub caps to match

Done a quick photoshop to see how it may be, dont know whether to keep the bump strips?

Don't loose the mahles detail by spraying them black :(

Yeah don't paint the wheels black, Mahles are a gorgeous wheel which need to stand out, not hide away...

As for bump strips, they're an absolute pain to get off, i'd reccommend leaving them on.

Ended up taking the bump strips off today, yeh its not fun. they came off easy enough but the glue is the hard part, i'll have another go at it tomorrow!

Yet another polo Genesis in white! Reminds me of my old one. Those side stripes with the little Genesis badge in were really cool, and i have never seen them before. I think you removed the one thing that made this stand out from all the others . There seems to be alot of these. I have that same problem of water in the foot well in my current polo, and had it in my old one too.

Toffee wheel drill bit gets the glue off pretty well! Still takes an age though.

look so much better de bump stripped man did it to mine yesterday, come off easy but the glue is another story lol. used some 'sticky stuff remover' from halfords, got most of it off but might have to get a toffee wheel for the rest tho!

got some of that sticky stuff remover, took as much of the foam off first, then 2 goes over with that took it right off, thanks!

A little bit of an update, removed the rear wiper, the badges and the numberplate surround.

Stickers are temporary to cover the holes, got a fair few bits to touch up so ill wait for a good day...

Think i have found the cause of the condensation on the rear window, there is some "new" holes been drilled to fit the plate and its not exactly water-tight, ill sort that when i get some new plates.

Got my wheels back from Wheel Specialists today they turned out pretty good, there's a few corroded bits and a few deep scratches that I'm not going to be able to do much about.

Put a couple of coats of acid etch primer on earlier, and I'll satin black them tomorrow!

Please don't satin black them!!!!!

White and black is overdone to death and just looks boring you may aswell have some rms as they'll look the same once the detail is gone.

Just my opinion though but keep up the good work

Part of the reason I'm spraying them instead of getting them powder coated is so its easier to change the colour! I don't want anything to stand out too much and silver is boring...

NO NO NO don't paint them black! As said before, you'll hide the detail of the mahles. Red, green, whatever it all works well on a white car.

As for the wheels, paint them a light bring colour, to show of the design. Maybe try gold with a polished lip? Always looks good

Going by the paint shop later today, going to try colour on 1 wheel to see if its ok.

The lips are going black, no way are they getting polished!

The Mahles are now black!

No rush to get them on, will do it the same time as lowering...

Full service has to come first though

Not much to update, but done a few little things.

Pic in the snow

Took out the radio, that's just a bit of plastic, blank plate been ordered

Made the door pins straighter, cut off ends fitted Allen key bolts

Tyres and suspension when the snow goes away...

Some light! Also fitted yellow LED sidelight bulbs, it's not too coloured but plenty bright enough.

Tyres and lows on order :)

Had another test fit on the rear, just to see what spacers I could get away with, smallest hubcentric is 15mm but should be ok.

...in the last couple of days I've filled and painted the badge, aerial and bump strip holes. also got some new number plates this morning, so thought it would be a good chance to get some photos (that were not taken outside the house on my phone!) starting to look like it'll be worthy of the new wheels etc :) these photos show up all the dings though haha

Well the tyres and shocks/springs arrived, will fit them in a few weeks maybe.

...until then, got some tint film off amazon for £3.29!

Not the best of finishes but was my first go at this.
