  • Little bit of catching up, this time for the GT. Plans changed for it, don't use it that much so decided it doesn't need to be comfortable, and this will most likely be its last year on the road. I

Getting used to taking the rear brakes apart, third time now this morning!

Replaced the broken handbrake cable, pretty much had to take both sides apart and start over again.

While it was all apart, thought I'd try do something about the toe in that the camber shims had made. So whipped them out in place of a 3mm washer at front and a 2mm washer in the back, probably not ideal but has helped, bit too much camber now though!

Bit of an update.

Currently the idle is a bit weird and the throttle response is sometimes non existent, so had a dig about to see what looked worn out, fitted new dizzy cap, couldn't get the rotor arm off, got a new rocker cover gasket to hopefully stop the slight leak, and noticed the fuel filter was ancient, after a lot of faffing about that's swapped out... Time to play sensor bingo I think!

Also gave up on the polo centre caps, they don't line up quite right, so sprayed and fitted the audi ones for now.

Photobucket overload!...

Found a good place to sit.

Got some tape to tidy up the wires at some point.

The wheels don't show up too well in photos, but I like them enough in the metal to keep them black :)

How the ride quality on the 15's? Was looking to get some 15's but hear to much bad things about them so in 2 minds

They do look great imo

  • Author

I don't find it any different than 13's. smaller sidewall but slightly larger diameter rolls over bumps easier.

Suspension definitely has more of an effect!

Only at the rear, front bottoms out before hitting arch.

It's the plastic arch bit in front of the rear bumper that needs trimming at the top, if that made sense...

Recently got a suction mount for my GoPro, thought I'd give it a go while driving a few places in town.

If you've got 15 minutes to kill, switched up the view a few times, came out pretty good I think.

Need to go for a drive on some back roads at the weekend!

Go pros are ace eh?

Some good angles you got it at. Thought in the first 5 minutes you were going to go for a proper whore tour down the harbour haha.

I've always preferred lighter colour wheels can actually see the pattern of the wheel then. Silver goes nicely with the white

This happened sooner than expected, due to a cancellation at Turriff Tyres, went for a trip up this afternoon.

So the 4-2-1 manifold went on, the cat is gone, no centre box, to a similar to standard size back box, with an original as possible looking tail pipe, all done in 1.75".

New mounting point for the back box is much more sturdy.

Sounds pretty sensible on normal driving, but over 4000rpm it sounds nuts!

And now I actually have some ground clearance :)

Had a play with the gopro again tonight, have about an hour of footage to go through of me and steven in his G40 driving about north of Aberdeen.

While I'm working on that, made a short video of the sound of the new exhaust, had the radio off and window down since it was fitted haha

Tonight was a good laugh, haven't driven those roads like that in a good while.

Had a quick look through my videos, should be able to piece a decent driving video together.

Your exhaust does sound well nice, money well spent if you ask me.

  • Author

Don't know about yours, but above maybe 30mph all I can hear is wind noise, it's really annoying.

Though got some good videos of you dissappearing into the distance!

  • Author

...also, found a weigh bridge on a farm, so me, the polo, a box of tools and 6 gallons of petrol came in at 860kg.

That makes the polo on its own about 750kg, sound about right?
