I'm still considering another philj kit, don't think I'll notice any difference until the kits get about 4x the price, and if they cheap ones only last 2 years then it's still a bargain.

I'll let you know how I get on with the TA Technix kit from Germany mate if it works out cheap I'll send you the link

You reckon yu could pm or post the link please bud? just passed my test and lows are needed asap. Not sure whether to go with technix or philz for budget/comfort.

They seem to look ok but it doesnt say anything about the rears having different height settings.

For the price even if they arent you cant complain tbh, if you have them already could you possibly check and let me know, cheers

Yeah rears have 7 height settings/adjustable spring plates :-) springs seem very soft (I can compress them by sitting on one!) so prob gonna be a bit bouncy bouncy! But guess these can be swapped out at a later date for some H&R's

I just ordered a set of these from German eBay, went for the 40mm kit just incase I need some height, if it's too much I can just cut a coil off again.

Couldn't bring myself to buy a decent quality kit, maybe next time round.

Also a few suspension upgrades/ replacement parts coming soon...

Fitted the 40/30mm kit, as well as all the bushes, and also got the fuel tank swapped out.

Noticed a fair bit of difference already, it's still as hard/harsh but feels a lot more twitchy.

Next on the list is some paint, then the arch trims, and some day I'll get some new tyres for the BBS's.

How tricky were the front shocks to do? I've read it's easier to get the whole assembly in a vice to get the top cap off (where the new shock slots in)

A vice, pipe wrench and spring compressors are the easiest way to do it when the whole unit is removed.

Have done it without but it's a lot more difficult.

Can't believe the 40mm kit is just as firm as the 80mm kit!

Though I need to figure out a way to raise the rear about 20mm more as its on the top notch already.

How bout standard g40 springs on the rear? Aren't they 20mm lower than standard (so instead of 40mm drop it would be 20mm)

Still not got new tyres for the Mahles, but keeping this updated.

Picked up a couple of doors in a lot better condition than mine, had to change the glass and locks over.

Thought I'd take advantage of this mild weather and get on with the plastic trims.

Wire wheeled the rust back to bare metal, then sealed over the top of it.

First time I'd ever used rivets, and for good measure a fair covering of tigerseal stuff.

Will leave the tape and clamps overnight, hopefully will still be where I left them by tomorrow...

That wheel bearing I replaced a few months ago started wobbling again, probably as I squished it a bit while fitting.

So ended up changing it again, being way more careful this time.

At the same time figured I'd sort out the uneven ride height. The springs had sooo much preload in them they were rock solid, a couple of coils got chopped off and they now fit in without needing spring compressers. But still held in tight enough the're not loose.

Measuring tape says about 10/15mm drop, the back end is still slightly lower measuring from rim to arch, 140mm and 130mm ish.

Anyway loads of mixed together photos, before/after..

Though I'd gopro the wheel travel to see if there's any difference from the previous video. So here's a video from a phone of a computer screen haha.

A tyre related update, though not for the BBS's.

Got a set of 6n2 steels off Gumtree with Hankook winter tyres, in 175/65/13.

Had to make some space in the wheel cupboard, so took a few old tyres off, with a hammer and Stanley knife, and a pair of snips!

The tyres will stay on the steels for now but will eventually end up on the 6n 6 spoke alloys.

Found a use for the seat covers I saved from the old seats, first time I've ever made a pillow case!

Couldn't think of anything else to use it for, got a little left still.

Also re-wrapped the loom the other day, electrical tape didn't look right, used self amalgamating tape, seems to be holding up pretty good and blends in a bit better.
