The windows don't work in my 6n2 and never have sice i bought it over a

year ago....however...in the last couple of days when i lock the car the

passenger side front window goes down.It did it last night and i never

noticed and woke up to find a swimming pool in the front footwell.If you

press the switch up the window goes back up but when you press down nothing

happens.Has anyone had this before and if you have can you tell me what

the fook is going on...cheers much

The windows in these are always temperamental as hell man. The drivers switches are prone to getting wet and shorting out; usually resulting in them not working at all though.

Quick check to see is pull the conduit back on both doors - where the wiring goes from the car to the door, and check for breakages. They're usually obvious. You might find that two wires are just about making contact.

You could remove the drivers door card and unplug the passenger switch, then that isolates the passenger door from the drivers side - possibly from breaks.

The switches are usually the first thing people replace, hence the high prices.

9/10 times its the wiring in the door connect. As above pull back the rubber tube and look for broken ores. Usually the thick brown and red wires but any can break.

If it is the switch, you can try swapping over the wires from left to right and try the switch.

You can open them up, but make sure you are working on a clean surface as there are small parts inside.

When you open them you will see four small metal triangles fall out, I used Sand paper to clean off the corrosion, and the same on the pcb where the copper parts are exposed. Put it all back together and try them they should work spot on.

What happens is moisture gathers inside the switch when water drips into it. On the inside of the switch you will see there is a plastic barrier to stop this but this usually breaks with use.
