01Mlacey's Mk2 Breadvan Project!

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Where to start really, after a long period of unemployment sent me off road and forced sell the previous polos I'm now back on the polo scene. :)

In a stable job it was time to save a little and search for a solid polo, wanted another mk2 as the old tornado one came to an end because of a crash and i always loved it.

After months of searching and turning down shitters i came a across a 1985 polo c breadvan,62k,tax and tested and was the best id seen for a while so seemed a good base to start with.

So £450 later it was it was mine :)

Plans are to build a car that should last through m.o.ts hopefully for many years to come and also have something fun too drive

will more then likely go down the afh route on carbs rather than 8v this time.

So after lending a hand at a mates unit where he breaks cars for a living i managed to get free storage space so we got all cars stripped and stored and cleaned up ready for the projects to come in..

The breadvan in its new home for the next 6 months

IMAG0124.jpg

along side jamies g40..

IMAG0125.jpg

So the weekend after they were in the unit i made a start and got the polo up on stands and stripped down ready to be cleaned up ready for minor repairs and fully unsealed,All parts that are removed will be derusted and painted up so their good as new.

IMAG0130.jpg

Its also very handy being where i am as lots of dubs are always coming so dibs on parts cheap is a plus! so i came across rear brake disc conversion bits..

IMAG0100-1.jpg

So I've defiantly got alot to be getting on with.

Glad to be back on it :D

yes it seems quite sticky although it been on there a few days,il be doing all underneath etc as well which should help pre-long the life of it hopefully it does,nt collect much once its had 6 months to dry

my minds just set on an afh on carbs atm no idea of what spec, main aims getting it back on wheels, then engine stuff will start to be brought.

Nice to see you back matey, works good so far, will be watching this.

Yeah it is mate. Aye, a modest drop and some decent wheels. Can't beat it!

I let mine dry for the best part of a year and it still picked up crap. But it will prolong the life of the car. I have donw arches and underside of mine too, but plan on stipping the arches off and stone chipping/painting instead

Made a good start, so look forward to seeing results.
