Taxing a car with temp insurance

Alright basically picking up another car in Wales sat morning and wondering will I be able to tax it with my one day cover? The previous owner hasn't got insurance as its sorn ATMCheers in advance

Depends on the worker in the Post Office. Some say no others just get on with it.

Unless the cover note specifies "not valid for taxing" the Post office should accept it, after all you can tax it if the MOT or a 12 month policy is due to run out the next day

Sweet cheers guys, don't fancy a 5 hour journey with no tax :lol:

alot of post offices now will not renew your tax unless the mot or insurance has longer than 2 days to go

i have been turned away in the past and my brother did only last week so beware

and I'm sure a one day insurance certificate will not allow the car to be taxed but best double check with a post office before you go mate

I've taxed cars using day insurance cover before. it does depend on the post office worker more than anything. Some day insurance covers state that they cannot be used to gain tax on a car, others dont. bit of a joke tbh
